I caught this. About 12:40 or so I think.

They played a clip of Goff fighting with Mac over a throw away comment. Mac called Bears camp "Camp McCaskey". Goff got angry and said "It's camp Lovie, mothafucka." (I exaggerated the mothafucka part). Mac said "Are you gonna split hairs with me all god damn day?"

The point being that Goff is always looking for a fight as I have often said. Spiegel heard the clip and said that's Goff's thing. He always needs a conflict or a fight. Something like that. Looks like Spiegel is fed up with Goff's behavior.

Goff will probably use Spiegel calling him out to create more conflict.

He's a bit of a contrarian.....that's fine and not at all racial.

Contrarian is one thing. Looking for a fight and always being a bitch is another thing. If Goff were a Jewish women he'd be called a yenta.

Of course he's had it up to his ears with all the pseudo-intellectual Joos on the station, but that should be a place where he and Mac can find common ground.

I don't know that Goff loves conflict, but his on-air persona has become increasingly grating. He's a know-it-all who expends a tremendous amount of energy trying to present himself as a cool dude who just likes hanging out and casually discussing sports and Things Brothers Don't Do. Which in many ways is more frustrating than a guy who's just straight argumentative.

His ideas about where great players of the past would fit in today's NBA or NFL are preposterous. He's typical of many guys from his generation. He has very strong opinions without a whole lot behind them. Thankfully, we have quite a few guys in this forum around his age who aren't like that.

Goff has become increasing annoying, as of late. He does seem to be just looking for a fight. You could tell Mac was getting annoyed with it.
I suspect Goff will be filling in less for Speigs as the year goes on.

I wonder if he really thought that last summer was the time for him to ascend to a full time show. I remember those heady days full of promise, potential and possible glory. Did he get some assurances that were dismissed by Mitch? Did someone in management shoot down the idea of him going Full-Time +Big Time?

He has become increasingly combative with everyone, or so it seems....

The bottom line is Spiegel wanted to throw a shot across the bow. Maybe he was speaking for everybody at the station. This soundbite was played at 12:40. They wanted Goff to hear it. Mac sounded kind of aggravated at the replay of Goff being a petty bitch to him. But he let Spiegel fight the battle for him. This was orchestrated to send a message.

Will Goff receive it well?

Of course not. He's gonna get fuckin' even!!!! Cuz that's what he does. Constructive criticism with merit? Hell, no. Goff would never see it that way. It's on!!!! Goff is plotting as we speak.
