Bernstein actually thinks he has had any influence in the Penn State situation. Like really. Their going to take actions based on the host of a medium rated radio program 1000 miles away. |

Imaginary radio strikes again. Danny did make light of how now the national media (ESPN and others) have latched onto the story, after it's been a point of discussion on B and B for SEVERAL months. Taking credit? Hardly. He has consistently praised writers like Sara Ganim, who have been on this story a while -- and I believe he's never seemed like he was the main person leading the investigation. All he did was read the reports of others and bring it to light to on his radio station. |

I should say giving the media credit in general for this is ridiculous. |

I want to say that both Bernstein and Holmes had a tear about some email they received talking about the show inspiring him to help kids. I still don't believe it was genuine. |

Correct. He also has named people who are reporting on it and saying how important they are to the whole situation (Humblebrag....roundabout patting himself on the back) Child Rape |

I liked when he kept saying "follow the money" earlier in this story. He stopped following the money after a while. |

rogers park bryan wrote: I liked when he kept saying "follow the money" earlier in this story. He stopped following the money after a while. Didn't fit "The Narrative." Maybe if "twitter was exploding" with information about the money he would have done more "real important radio." BTW, when did "The Narrative" become the latest radio trope? As if there is some clockwork army of writers locked away in a dungeon penning sports stories that blur the line between athletics and the everyday. |

I don't know about that one. He brings up the AquaPenn/retirement home/various other Second Mile-Paterno investment schemes a bit. |

I've heard them mention more than a few times that their show is being listened to all over the Penn State campus, for better or worse. |

I haven't heard much of the Penn State stuff recently because I almost always turn it off, but I caught some of it just now while listening for bernstein's comment on Gould. It struck me that he's so outraged about something that happened in the past, something that neither he nor anyone else can do a damn thing about. But Apple is making all kinds of popular products with slave labor of Chinese children. Does danny think anyone with an iPhone is evil? Why doesn't he crusade against that? Maybe he could really make a difference. The truth is, it's exactly the same thing. Penn State fans just want to watch their team play football. They don't want to know about child rape. They're completely divorced from it. Just like people standing in line for iPads don't want to know about enslaved children working 20 hour days. They just want to download apps and talk to Siri. |

The slave-labor kids (while I don't agree with the practice) are being used to create goods that help to service a global economy, which affects many people. Not really the same thing. Penn State football could have existed without Sandusky raping kids. Could Apple exist without its slave labor practices? Not sure. |

Bernstein made some solid observations and points with the Perv State situation. Deep down, Bernstein is telling all the over the top sports fans who treat good old State U. or a professional team as a life's cause to GET A LIFE. Cubbiegirl just may find herself in that team photo. |

How does that change the analogy? Consumer ignoring the despicable way their product is produced Reminds me of all the love thrown Steve Jobs way when he died. Yes, he was an innovator....but his greatest invention was probably the suicide nets outside the Apple factory |
