Let's make it a thread. People here have discussed it in other threads. It was brought up today. We all hear Goff call him out. But he doesn't go hard like he does when it's a caller or when it's racism in a news story. He backs off. Like I said in the other thread, Goff puts his foot in the water and doesn't jump in cuz it's too cold. He backs off with a laugh. I think Goff stops short cuz he wants to be Bernstein's partner. That getting a high 6-figure salary trumps working with a racist. I think most people would take this trade off. I would. So Goff can't really go hard at Bernstein cuz he's scared that it will cost him a full time show with a successful broadcaster. I also think Bernstein takes some sick, sadistic plessure in making his racist comments while knowing that Goff has to take it for the reasons mentioned above. What say you, CSFMB? Let's do this!!!! |

Beardown, you said, "That getting a high 6-figure salary." High six figures, I believe, means over half-a-million. Who are you kidding? What do you possibly think a job like that could pay? |

What do you possibly think a job like that could pay? Not initially. But a job with Bernstein, with an established listenership, could mean 600k eventually. I'm sure Bernstein is making over a half a million. If not now, he'll get that in his next contract. Bottom line is it would mean a lot of money to Goff. Even if it's 100k to start. Certainly more than a producer makes. Let's not split hairs to avoid the point. Why must you be difficult? |

Well, let me ask all of you. Would you be partners with a racist for a 6-figure salary? This is kind of like the question that was posed in the Demi Moore movie, Indecent Proposal. Would you pimp out your wife for 1 million dollars? Feel free to answer both questions, CSFMB. |

Why can't Robbie Gould feel for the victims of Jerry Sandusky and those who participated in the cover-up of these crimes while also supporting the football team, which consists of players who had no involvement in the mess, and which helped propel his own career to where it's now? I realize that Bernstein believes that football is the root of all problems there, but that's clearly not an opinion shared by all. |

I didn't hear this "Robbie Gould vs Bernstein vs. Goff vs. Racism" thing. I just got wind of it in the other thread. Can somebody fully explain it. I'm guessing it was Bernstein saying Robie Gould should think like him cuz he's white and it's understandable that Franco and Arrington think like idiots cuz they are black. Was that pretty much the jist of it today? Joe Orr asked the same question in the other thread. |

Didn't hear this one, but I've heard Goff call out Dan on shit like this before. As always, Goff forgets about it and goes back to fun-loving self around Bernstein until the next racist comment. Then he'll call him out and forgets about it again. My question is how many racist comments do you listen to until you just get sick of hearing racist comments? Goff? Want to answer that? Probably not. Easier questions on twitter, I'm sure. |

Franco Harris is half Italian and half black. I wonder if Bernstein knows this. |

Only one person took a stab at one of my questions. I'll ask again and combine the two for a 3rd moral dilemma. 1. Would you pimp out your wife for 1 million dollars? 2. Would you work with a racist partner for a 6-figure salary? 3. Would you pimp out your wife to a racsit for 1 million dollars? Beardown's answers: 1. Yes. But only if she was for it. 2. Yes. 3. No. Gotta draw the line somewhere. |

I figured it's mostly cause he's a kicker (read: not a real football player), and seems to have a decent amount of sense in his head. Whereas the other guys are big strong athletes and therefore dumb meatheads. Urlacher is white and if he was substituted into this situation, Dan would probably assume him to be a mostly ignorant meathead (because he pretty much is). |

I think this topic correlates with your J Hood thread. J Hood wouldn't stand for Bernstein's shit, he'd be going hard on him. Hood must be pissed as hell that Goff could attack whitey in general and Bernstein specifically, but plays the dutiful minstrel because he's so gullible that he thinks he can replace Terry when he retires. |

One of the major themes of the show is the canard/stereotype that blacks are superior athletes. The other side of that same canard/stereotype is the idea that blacks are stupid. That obviously can't be expressed quite as freely, but sometimes it comes creeping out. |

I've never understood why kickers were excluded from being labeled meatheads. If anything, their job is probably the most fitting for someone who's an idiot as the only thought they have is, "see ball, kick ball". |

For Bernsie, it's OK to be racist as long as you don't say crudely racist remarks. You have to be more subtle. |

I remember my parents taking me to the drive in as a yout to see a movie about a donkey from some eastern european country who could kick field goals and became a football star. I believe it was titled "Gus, The Football Kicking Mule." Good stuff from Disney. It was a double feature with Blackbeard's Ghost |

I rarely see anyone walking down the street yelling racial epithets. Although at a Sox game last season I saw a group of huge musclebound guys without shirts that had all kinds of racist/Nazi tattoos. The biggest guy also had something like, "All cops must die" across his shoulders. I kept waiting for security to come make them put their shirts on or for a couple brothers to get in their faces, but these motherfuckers were pretty intimidating. I wanted to say something myself, but I like my teeth. |
