Via Twitter...

"This is so f*cked up... There needs to be some kind of gun control.. For real" - @JoakimNoah's

". @JoakimNoah So what to do about that "guns" celebration after a made jumper? " - Dan

"It's about taste and timing for things like @JoakimNoah's "guns." @Boers_Bernstein uses gun sfx, but not today. Likely will again, later." - Dan

Honestly, I wish we could focus on the tragedy and victims and not gun control. Is now the right time to be calling out a guy in this manner? If you want to stir this shit, can't it wait a little while?

One thing is for sure, Noah shoots the hell out of those holsters. Probably has to replace them constantly. Especially this season...

The problem here has nothing to do with politicizing a tragedy and everything to do with Dan engaging in yet more concern-trolling about something that doesn't bother anyone else anywhere in the universe.

Can someone please explain what the hell Dan is trying to say here? Is he mad at Noah, I mean the Bulls didn't play this afternoon right so he couldn't have made the gesture today?

This whole taste and timing thing strikes me as odd considering he was criticizing ESPN for sending around a memo asking anchors to refrain from using the word "shoot" during broadcasts.

It's a case again of "you dont have kids, so you dont know"

I do know that almost everyone I know chose not to bring it up to their kids, but Danny B is having a family meeting??????

Not saying to ignore it if they ask a question, but I would never bring it up to my kids if they didnt first.

There really is nothing to talk about with your kids. Bernstein wants to let everybody know that he becomes Mike Brady or Ward Clever in moments like this.

Dan: I'm having a family meeting tonight, Chicago. In my Den at 8pm sharp. I'll have a serious look on my face as the kids walk in. The wife will hand me a brandy and a smoking pipe before I address the children to build the drama.

Like Big Fan said, you certainly don't bring it up if they don't know anything about it. I would suspect 6 and under wouldn't know unless you bring it up. If they ask, you talk about it. Tell them it's just a crazy person and it can't be explained. Tell your kids it won't happen at their school. Yeah, you lie and say it would never happen at your kids school cuz odds are it won't. Bernstein says you have to be honest and tell your kids it could happen. Great move Daddy Bernstein, hold a family meeting to scare the shit out of your kids. Dumb ass.

No, I don't have kids. I'll give advice anyway.

Good advice from the "funny" uncle.

My son has not brought it up. If he does, we will discuss it.

I didn't hear Bernsies's family meeting comment but the Slate article he recommended essentially said to ignore it unless it is brought up.

ATENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!!

Gather all of your kids around the computer at 8pm. Beardown will explain to the CSFMB children what happened today.

I'll do it cuz I care and I know it's tough for some parents to go down this road.

But then you guys have to explain to Beardown how to get white women at 9pm.

Mocking Bernstein for his grandstanding. I didn't think it was right of him to use the tragedy to let everybody know he's "father of the year." That was in bad taste.

My kids didn't know about it so I didn't tell them.

My oldest is at school function tonight, though, so I suspect he'll hear about it.

Our teenage daughters and I discussed it.

I would expect it to be a week or so before our youngest brings it up. He has an incredibly big heart for a nine year old. He will be very upset and I'm sure that there will be tears shed too. By both of us.

Asked my kids if it was bothering them. They were like no. Maybe tomorrow a question comes? or not? Media makes these things bigger than they are to the average person or family. In reality no one would even miss a beat in 1980. Sorry it is true.

Crazy guy does this. Yep he did. Why? I don't know? Welcome to life kids.

Not true.

In 1980 you would not know of this until a day or two later and most certainly it would not be 24/7 on all tv's across the land. I am not taking away from the tragedy but everything these days is all important all the time

Post subject:  Re: Wow, really Dan?

Leave it to Bernstein to turn this tragedy into a nonsensical discussion about media coverage and public relations. Disgusting.

I'm as shaken up by the shootings in Connecticut as anyone, but what does someone refraining from a celebration, or ESPN refraining from using the word "shooter" have to do with anything? What does it do? The poor parents of these slain kids are so incredibly devastated. They don't care what Joakim Noah does. That's a fucking insult. Their world has been turned upside down.

If one of the shithead anchors on SportsCenter stops saying "shooter" or shows us a tweet from Lebron or Kobe saying "My condolences," does it do anything? Does that bring any of these kids back?

Bernstein is a PR guy. A "crisis control" guy. He is well versed in all this nonsense that doesn't matter. When something like this happens, he is thinking "how can how we talk about this get us in trouble?"

We don't give a shit about SportsCenter or you, Dan. We are all crying for the poor parents of those kids. This isn't about you. We don't care what the fuck you say, asshole.

Dan will be having on a PR guy from Universal Studios later next week to discuss the pressing need to edit out large swaths of Happy Gilmore. It's too soon and it sets the wrong tone. I don't have kids but I am definitely going to set up a meeting with the neighbors to get together and discuss why the celebrations of Shooter McGavin are wrong and hurtful. Expect a firestorm on Twitter.

Yet you just spent 5 paragraphs on it.

Yes, I attempted to flesh out an idea I had by adding some content. You're right, that's on me.

I should have come up with an incredibly unwitty comment and attached it with 2 GIF's that I spent 3 hours finding.

And then I'll take a vacation day on Friday to go to a remote and slap my buddy on the back about that awesome GIF he put in that post about Lovie Smith from two months ago.

And then I'll bake myself a cake to celebrate my 25,000th post on the CSFM board.

And then I'll put trick candles that don't quite blow out on it. And I'll try and I'll try, but they won't blow out.

WAIT....

NO.

I WON'T BE YOU. I'LL NEVER BE LIKE YOU.

I do what I can prickly. Keep up the good work.
Only one more post until 21,018. And then you'll be one closer to 22,000.

And only 21,000 of them were bullshit like you've spewed here today.

That's a story for the grandkids, right there. You've come a long way, baby. Keep reaching for that rainbow.

How about the dumb ass callers who called to thank Dan for "doing what he was doing" & talking about the tragic event of the day? Really??? Everyone is talking about it!!! WTF was Dan saying about the event, other than his stupid ass comment about how his Family was "going to have a Family meeting tonight to discuss this".
