Post subject: | 12/28: Bernstein & Bowen Today |
Normally, you hear the Tribune & National Football Post's Matt Bowen Mondays @ 4P after a Bears' game with "Boers & Bernstein" breaking down the X's & O's of what you & I saw from someone who played the game for 7 years in the NFL. Today, with Terry Boers still on vacation, Mr. Bowen actually sits in as guest co-host alongside Dan Bernstein for this afternoon's "Boers & Bernstein Show". Needless to say, there will be quite a preview of Sunday's biggie between the Bears & Lions and what we can expect the way Bowen sees it. At the same time, might Bowen talk about non-football things with Bernstein between 1:15P-ish & 6P following the daily transition with Matt Spiegel & the Daily Herald's Barry Rozner? Might new Associate Producer Chris Tannehill have some audio surprises in store for Bowen in his debut as guest co-host on this program? Only one way to find out. Look on the bright side, folks. It won't be "you know who" sitting in like yesterday. A certain evening SCORE host who shamelessly plugs NBC5 & mentions meteorologist Cheryl Scott to a point where Cheryl should seek a restraining order. You know the one. |

I bet Bernstein had trouble sleeping last night with the prospect of a full day of unnecessary and pointless football terminology thrown in. I can't wait until Bowen somehow uses mike linebacker when describing his NYE plans. |

I don't know if it will come over in the studio as much as it does on the phone but he's really got a Darth Bowen breathing thing going on when he talks. Once you hear it, that's all you'll ever hear. YOU HAVE FAILED ME IN THE WIDE NINE... |

Will Bernsie make any mention of the Duke meltdown in the bowl game last night? I am not sure if he was watching but that was a brutal way to lose a game for a program that has been so bad for so long. |

He rarely mentions that he played for any of those teams, though, so you'll have to listen very carefully. He seems like a likable guy, just kind of repetitive and not much personality. |

I like him too, and I feel he's informative, but he seems to use a lot of tricks to seem like he really knows what he's talking about.

I don't think there's a more negative sports talk host in the city and that's saying something. |

He does the curmudgeon thing in a way that I find entertaining though. Reminds me a lot of Lewis Black, of whom I'm a fan. |

This morning I saw Bernstein buying a step ladder, a box of nails and a bag of mistletoe. Hopefully one of Murphs hammers is laying around the studio. |

Murph: "Miss a little, miss a lot..." This should be an interesting afternoon. Could it be a sign of things to come when Terry takes time off in the New Year? |

Hmm, I've never heard Dan give the blowjobs on fill-in shows, only receive. This could be interesting. |

Bowen is big on using player numbers....#54, #6. Find that a refreshing change at least for a day. |

I like when specialty guys can offer thoughts on other sports. Bowen hosted with Goff last year and had some NBA thoughts. That was refreshing. Kinda like when Hub talks baseball. |
