Marc Trestman is really smart. Hiring CFL coaches is exploiting a market inefficiency like Billy Beane in the bestseller and blockbuster Moneyball. This. is. Phil. Emery's. team.

Who's been drinking all the English Breakfast around here? You can't have it. This. is. Phil. Emery's. tea.

Betcha he knows all about the potentially perilous effects of circadian rhythms as well.

Terry and Spiegs questioning whether any of these guys fit Emery's energy criterion and Dan predictably rationalizing by saying high energy simply means hard working. It would be nice to hear Terry press Dan on some of this stuff throughout the show.

Here's the Tuesday Game Plan with the guys:

*TBA: Blackhawks' Goaltender Corey Crawford (IN STUDIO)
Better at Hockey in the 48-Game Lockout Shortened Season Starting Saturday in Los Angeles

*3:30P: "The Second Half"

*5P: The SCORE/PFW/Dial Global Radio Network's Hub Arkush
Bears' Coaching Finalists; Mike McCoy to SD; Other NFL Coaching Vacancies

"Scoreboard Updates": Connor McKnight

Terry's "two favorite words", Laurence Holmes, is nipped tonight. He's only on from 6-7:15P tonight to accommodate The SCORE's coverage of DePaul basketball. Zach Zaidman & Jeff Blanzy have the call of DePaul's home game vs. Cincinnati at Allstate Arena starting @ 7:15P. Tipoff from Rosemont @ 7:30P. After basketball, Laurence's Executive Producer Joe Ostrowski has the latenight SCORE from around 9:45P-ish until Midnight. Les Grobstein & Adam Harris have "SCORE Overnight" starting @ Midnight as always.

Blackhawks are an advertiser now. Does this mean their fans aren't Klan members anymore, Dan?

I noticed that during the last break, CH, even though the Blackhawks haven't been on The SCORE themselves for a few years now. I don't recall the Bulls marketing themselves like this since their own lockout ended.

Yes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the owners are learned billionaires whom are to be respected and admired.

Rocky Wirtz is like the one Chicago owner who isn't incompetent and/or a shithead and yet the only one for whom they haven't had over-the-top praise.

As well as the wealthiest. However, he does not have any advanced academic degrees and Dan is nothing if not advanced degree envious. I would have loved to see how he treated Michael Mc Caskey during the populist uprising against him in the past.

so after an otherwise enjoyable fairly straightforward show, the last segment delves into lance armstrong. i wander off to another station and turn back in time to hear about child rape!

i'm glad that the show is staying on message. can't wait til we have a new coach to worship.

They're supposed to have Blackhawks' goalie Corey Crawford in the first half of the show in studio. Might it come after the legal ID & Connor's next update?

I like listening to the hockey players. Usually pretty real people. Retired players not so much.

I didn't hear much of these guys when Theo initially came to town, but it's almost shocking to me the degree to which they defend Emery on literally every little thing. There's absolutely nothing he has done to warrant this over-the-top optimism. I don't even know if optimism is the right word. Dan acts like he is 100% sure that Phil Emery is one of the best GMs in the NFL. It's almost getting surreal to listen to.

Yea....it's very odd. Emery strung together a bunch of cliched business words while not really saying much and the boys were starstruck.

He's proven 1 thing so far: He can trade for a #1 WR....much like his predecessor traded for the QB. And like his predecessor, he said his draft picks have to be impact players.

They may be hitching their horse to the wrong wagon.

Do you think it's a CBS directive to stand by Bears management? Mully is the only clear voice of dissent on the station. I don't know where Mac and Spiegs stand; it's hard to tell in transition because they're next to Dan going gaga.

I fear for the long-term health of this board if people really do start giving up on B&B. I'm getting rather close myself.
