His friend helped him with this hoax according to deadspin. Do you think it was done to hide the fact that he's gay? Cuz then the rest of his life he could say he never wanted another women. That she was his only love. People would accept that. If he pulled this off, he then could get away with being gay.

That's all I can come up with right now. Anybody else have a theory?

Why is it so horrible? This story deserves its own thread. I wanted everybody to see that youtube clip where he lied about the fake girlfriend. Didn't want it to get lost in another thread.

Think about this for a second. It says their fake relationship started in 2009. Te'o tells people that this is his girlfriend. So obviously he can't have a girlfriend on NDs campus if he claims to be with a made up girl. Why would a heterosexual do that? So my instincts were right. It was all a "gay" cover. I'm convinced of it now.

This wasn't about getting the heisman. He started this lie when he was a freshman and wasn't even considered for the Heisman at that point.

Starts the lie as a fresmen and conveiniently has the fake girlfriend die in his senior year. C'mon.
