Blackhawks are easily the best story in town right now. How much genuine hockey talk are we gonna get?

You will get more references to hockey fans are racist then actual talk.

Hockey is a hard sport to talk about. It's tough to break down if you're not well-versed in the sport (and tougher to listen to), and the greater wide-angle kind of stuff has been done to death. Yes, we know, fighting is bad.

I'm at the point with these guys where if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Some perfunctory effort to discuss what they're doing well with a mind for what they need to work on (bottom six scoring, the Bollig/Shaw situations, the fact that they're playing above expectation facing down a six-game road trip) would be nice. I'll settle for not being called a knuckle-dragging racist because I love hockey.

Do you think Terry asked for his autograph?

They'll find a Hawks angle (Kane is a drunk, Hawks fans are dumb) and go with it.

This really is too bad that some talk radio is like this in Chicago. Here in Pittsburgh hockey fandom and talk etc. is huge city wide. Maybe due to lack of NBA here idk but this meme that hockey is elitist, racist and dumb is just not right.

Did you just pity Chicago via Pittsburgh?

I guess I did. The fans here are awesome as far as their teams go. I see as many people of all colors all over the city with jerseys and gear of Pens as much as Steelers. The tv and radio buzz is phenomenal. I just don't believe or understand this meme that there are on 18k hockey fans in Chicago.

I was just kidding, I know what you mean

Hey, why is every pittsburgh team yellow and black? Is there a reason for that?

I don't really know but the city flag is so maybe that? I like all the teams colors but wish the pens would go back classic. They use a vegas gold color now.

When pittsburghers are not embracing guns or religion they are embracing irrelevant sports.

City flag, which must go back to the Pitt family or something. The bridges are all done in the same Pittsburghian yellow, too, and I think their cop cars incorporate it somewhere. The Pens wore dark/light blue (the logo was still yellow, though) till the Pirates and Steelers both won in '79 and they felt they had to get on board. They still wear the throwbacks for Winter Classics and stuff and it looks weird.

The reason the Penguins' logo has always had a yellow triangle is because the Golden Triangle is the name of the area where the three rivers converge in Pittsburgh. So that + a penguin = "Pittsburgh Penguins." Pretty cool.

And yeah, what's also really cool is that you're allowed to like the Pens without it being akin to a hate crime in the eyes of NBA mother hens.

EDIT: I see spmack!!

Terry is back today, but his two "favorite words in show biz" are not all week.

I'm not sure how much Blackhawk talk will be discussed, but Dan asks the question if "Kaner is All Grown Up?" here:

Every time Terry returns from hiatus, he's at his best.

I will be listening.

Terry's Peeps, if I mean anything to you....you should be listening as well.

Just for you, my fellow Hall of Panthro resident, I'll listen to the first hour.

But I won't enjoy it.

Isn't the "game as not as close as the score indicated" cliche beneath Bernstein? They are numbers.

Scott from Davenport material teased in the Second Half. Very Smart Person.

I would love it if Scott from Davenport called in one day and told the guys he just makes up all of those numbers. Just pulls them straight out of thin air. It would be such a marvelous revelation.

Scott from Davenport, IA is to "Boers & Bernstein" what Jeff Mangurten is to the Chicago Bulls Radio Network.

If you follow the executive producer of the Bulls Radio Network on Twitter @JeffGurt like I do, he's got unbelieveable facts & figures regarding every Bulls' game.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that one. If you won a game in sudden death, the game was close.

Agree. In retrospect Spiegel had to know how dickish that came off, especially with the wife and kid there. I'm so glad that the Score is once again a big, happy family. That should last about 2 hours.

Terry is consistently awesome after a break. Looking forward to this show.
