Despite all he says about the Booyahs he'd jump ship for $100K more a year (private High School and College tuition are around the corner). If ESPN cares about ratings (and maybe they don't - it might be just enough to have a Chicago affiliate to sell national ads), I could see them thinking Bernstein is the reason for B&B's success and try to pounce on him.

And why wouldn't the Score let him go? They could slide Danny Mac to afternoon drive and not miss a beat. Then they could literally put anyone who could button their shirt on in mid-days and still crush ESPN, especially if they go with a national show.

It would be a bold move, and ESPN knows that Bernstein would tow the company line because he doesn't fuck around when it comes to getting paid.

Any thoughts?

Dan isn't sending his kids to private school. He is a man of the people so he sends them to public schools that are available to 1% of the population.

Yuck. That would be yet another reason not to listen to ESPN Radio.

Probably not. I'm sure if he moves, it will be to a national broadcast for the purposes of getting wider exposure. I would expect that he won't move until his kids are a little older and / or Terry retires.

Bernstein OWNS SomeGuy.

At some point the Chicago scene has to hit the point where he can't take it anymore. Seriously, I don't know how the guy hasn't gone nuts already. Its the same Bears crap for about ten of twelve months every year.

Can the Score amnesty Bernstein?

Here's why amnesty makes sense:

Bernstein probably gets about 4 weeks off every year. So let's say he works 48 weeks of the year with roughly 25 hours of airtime a week. That's 1200 hours a year on the air. Which means at $600,000 he is making $500 an hour to talk about Penn State and Lance Armstrong. Something must be done. If you can't trade him, please pay him and set the listeners free.

The truth comes out: Bernstein makes enough money to buy the camp his charity funds.

Unless Dan got a new contract recently & nearly doubled his salary, he & Terry were both around $300K previously.

Both the 300K and 600K numbers sound odd because Boers and Bernstein were making around a million back in 2004

Even with the hype and conjecture about these salaries on this message board, I never dreamed those guys would near 1 million each respectively. Wow.

Well it said they were making just less that 2 million. I never would have thought it either, but the overall point is if they were making close to 2 million combined back in 1160 days right when they were starting off, I can't see them at 600K (or even 1.2 million) combined when they are number 1 in their key demographic and them being 13 years into the show.

A while back 1M was not preposterous for a leading radio personality. Since people like Dahl and even Mac got put on the bench in that contract cancelling craze though no one in radio even comes close anymore.

Total spent on U.S. radio adversting in 2004 ~ $20 billion

Total spent on U.S. radio advertising in 2009 ~ $14 billion

throw in some inflation adjustment and that's quite a haircut.

Nearly $2 million for a 4 hour midday show? I don't believe it. I have a feeling the author was simply saying that since they make less than $2 million they are a bargain compared to Mike North who made over $1 million by himself.

I would posit that ESPN is at least as responsible for B&B's ratings success as Dan Bernstein is.

And if they ever ask for raises, just play a tape of Dan giggling that they don't even do show prep.

i would feel bad if i were dan. maybe he does... but you would think he could tell management to pay him a little less and them a little more. it doesnt matter if someone else could do the producers job. some guy from a hotdog stand can do dans job.

B&B combined have never earned close to $2 Million. I'm pretty sure that Berns is about $350K, & Boers is about $300K.

Well, if it's been reported as fact in an internet posting, it must be true.....

Guaranteed he's not making that kind of coin.
