If Chris Collins is hired, then I guess so.

that wasn't his story. His story was that it is his job to lose and that they are in negotiations. That has been confirmed by more......credible sources.

When did he "break this?" Greenstein had the story that CC was "very interested" last week. Goodman has the story that he is the frontrunner, but even Greenstein is claiming he had the "front runner" part before too:

Teddy Greenstein ‏@TeddyGreenstein 1h
As we've said ... RT @GoodmanCBS: Duke assistant Chris Collins is the clear-cut frontrunner at #northwestern: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... rthwestern

So...

Predict that the most obvious choice will get the job

BOOM...you are an insider with great sources.

So that's a no.

I think it's pretty easy to see that all of his compatriots at the Score thought he was nuts. Play the tape back from one Dan Bernstein when Terry first brings it up. Larry too. Nobody else at the Score believed his info. So obviously it wasn't an obvious choice for Northwestern, otherwise I'm sure Dan would have had the news too since he apparently lives part time with Jim Phillips.

The only reason he didn't break it earlier is because he wasn't back on the air until Monday. I'm just saying...bash the guy when his guy 'broke' stories posthumously...but give him credit when he says something on air that nobody agrees with and he turns out to have national guys backing him up after the fact.

"frontrunner" is not the same as "in contract negotiations" either. Terry stated that he was more than the frontrunner, that Northwestern had already made the decision.

Fine

Im now reporting that CC has actually signed, and they are just waiting for a notary.

Hey, whatever. I'm convinced. Everyone else can make their own decision.

Terry's guy on this is Doug Collins. That is a source I know he has.

Post subject:  Re: Terry Boers (or His Guy) Actually Breaks a Story

that was my assumption, especially when Terry said something about Doug being his assistant. That had to come from Doug....

And if he doesn't, well, I said it was his job to lose, he lost it.

Yes Terry and Doug were close when Doug was on the heavy fuel crew show back in the day as well as MJ's early days.

I could've sworn Doug Collins was once The SCORE's NBA Insider back in the day. I also thought I heard Doug's name mentioned as a possible assistant if Chris Collins does get the Northwestern job. This despite the fact Chris and Duke have a Sweet 16 game to prepare for vs. Michigan State Friday night down in Indianapolis.

Kudos to Terry for the Scoop.

Can you imagine if someone at ESPN 1000 had done this? If for example Jesse Rogers had broken the news, they'd be running promos every commercial break replaying his quote and saying "ESPN is your source for breaking news." Cheezy Public Access-level shit like that is why you're #17

Boers should either reassert semi-control of the show or retire. What he's doing now benefits no one but Bernstein.

well, Dan Bernstein, Northwestern's Biggest Backer (TM) thought Terry was off his rockers. So obviously it wasn't a given.

Yeah, I believe that was an early Hochberg commercial.
