I'm sorry but, I just think this a skit that has run it's course. I am aware that there were over 11,000 entries this year, so I'll probably get roasted for this opinion. I think that Terry & Dan force themselves to laugh at this drivel as to placate Drinky. I mean was Bernsy really about to wet himself when divulging that " Walking into a Spider Web " was in the field. Their Tournament was funny and unique in it's infancy. Now is the time to put this baby up for adoption. If they want to do something next year, their Tournament of Bad should consist of one entry, The Tournament of Bad. |

It may have run its course but it's a million times better than that B&B hall of fame b.s. They just have to pick better, no one really cares about the penn state, Franco Harris crap. |

Was starting two threads with the same topic needed? |

I don't know how that happened, it was not intentional. |

I used to like it but then it turned into an excuse for B&B's sycophantic fans to validate the shows main obsessions (unless of course, the show is stuffing the ballot, but I can't imagine they would do that). We get it. People associated with Pennsylvania and Penn State are bad. Next year that idiotic Paterno apologist who leaked victims names is probably going to win. |

I'd appreciate the bit if it were at least funny. The TOB hasn't amused me since probably the second year they did it. |

The fact that white crayons didn't win that one year is a travesty of the highest order. |

I submit that the real humor of the Tournament of Bad isn't the premise itself of having a March Madness bracket between sundry Things That Are Bad, but rather the fact that an offhand comment from an on-air bullshitting session turned into something that actually happened, and the ensuing absurdity of following through with it to completion. I remember saving the original 2008 bracket because it was so funny that hahaha, oh my god, they're actually doing this, this is great. As it grew into an annual bit sponsored by Bob Rohrman and David Hochberg, I think it became clear that the gimmick, insofar as it's the whole process of voting through the "players," is really just kind of tedious and dumb. I can't remember the fields of previous tournaments, but I can remember Dan scolding, "again, how many times do we have to say this, you have to text the keyword to 67011, emails. don't. count." FAKE EDIT: I realized the year 2008 was kind of crucial, too. To set the stage, the Bulls were in the smack-dab in the middle of the Jim Boylan shitshow, the Blackhawks were only just beginning to figure out what they were doing and were thus unworthy of attention, the Bears weren't doing anything in the offseason to get people talking, baseball talk had no reason to start yet, and Big Ten basketball was so bad that the Illini made the conference final with a losing record and no one was all that worked up about it. It was the perfect time for nonsense. |
