It's just so weird. Hawk just referenced it when talking about players not hitting with "short arms". He and Stone are talking about the best guys to do just that - Ryne Sandburg, Gary Sheffield, Mike Schmidt. Then Hawk said the guys that are told to "Extend" get a lot of "Matt Abbatacolas". Met with silence from Stone, of course. Stone doesn't get it. I know Stone did the B&B show, so he knows drinky, but he thinks it's the weirdest damn thing that B&B's dumb ass producer is the word for "broken bat". I know we get it. B&B fans get it. But Hawk never explains it. I'm sure a lot of people go to baseballreference.com to look for a player named Abbatacola. Especially when Hawk does WGN games which are seen around the country. |

This is one Sox fan who is tired of his tired act. While listening Tuesday night I realized that it would be another long drawn out summer of Hawkisms as I try to watch a game. Another year of what has gone from many years to too many years of his act. Aside from his mental meltdowns and extended periods of silent pouting, there is little to anticipate in watching a game. I would keep the sound completed but then I would miss out on Stone giving me something from his limited opportunities. As for Santo, most Sox fans are indifferent towards him as either they aren't watching or they don't care because its the Cubs. |

The Matt Abattacola thing is actually pretty funny because it's so random. Is it any worse than duck snort or hang whiffum? No, but people used to love those. It's just cool to hate on Hawk now. Yeah, he's got bad quirks but he's more entertaining than most baseball announcers. |

I don't hate Hawk. I actually think he's a very good play by play guy. Especially in big moments as I've said before. Better than most guys doing it across MLB. Hawk just can't get along with his partners. Hawk has always looked at this partner as a threat to him for some reason. Doesn't want the partner to become liked. That and he's going a little crackers in his old age. I don't even hate the "Matt abbatacola" thing. I just find it weird. |
