Let it breathe a little.

that's fucking awful.... absolute dredge.

the suitably ironic thing is that what dan's doing by playing up the hipster archetypes/stereotypes is just as cliche as the hipster atchetypes/stereotypes. and it's sensationalist crap and, quite frankly, below whatever level he thinks he's at.

maybe i just need another cup of coffee and a cigarette tho? i have disdain for the giant ball of hipsterdom/cliche-hate cuz i always got grouped into it for being the kid who made his own justified ancients of mu mu shirt at age 14. i'm not purporting to be hip at all, i really do just have better taste in music than you.... but you can't espouse such thoughts without being balled into the kind of shit dan's spewing, so obviously i'm wearing nuthugger jeans and craving man-ass nowadays cuz holy shit has feminism done it's job to help with teh eugenics movement.

I feel your pain. Why can't it be enough to just like stuff that is good? Now people have to define themselves by buying things and disseminating the documentation of buying things. That's not being a hipster, that's being an asshole.

also it's being american. IIRC, dear leader bush 2.0 told us to help america recover after 9/11 by going shopping.

but hey.... c'est la vie. since i'm sure nobody'd care if i dredged up the hip hop song of the day thread i'll just kind of leave this one here to sum up my thoughts on the phenomenon you described.

and then you can wash it down with some patented vigilantcitizen.com stuff on how transhumanism is a part of "their" nefarious agenda bestowed upon us via occult imagery in music videos =D

That's why Dan likes him.

They're the same type of guy.

Emery's personality is not that of a hipster. He is a 1950s "square." He was P.E. major and a strength and conditioning coach at Army. How much less of a hipster could you be? Do you think he hangs out at Wicker Park bars playing bingo?

The article isn't a literal depiction of Emery. It's Bernstein's way of mocking the draft pick.

So to answer Peoria Matt's question: Obviously not.

Kid do you remember when they used to talk about books, movies, and tv?

Dan would pump up a particular book or show for a week and then when someone would call in and talk about liking that book or show, Dan would come back saying well that was good but wait til you see THIS.

Paul Heyman is like that in terms of wrestling. He's always looking for the next big thing.

Yeah, he likes to be the guy who liked it first. But he's usually a little late to the party on things, I've noticed.

Music is art, art is subjective...etc

I'm legitimately confused. Is Dan mocking Emery here? Because this column sure reads like a more elaborate version of his "haha, the Kyle Long pick isn't bad, per se--these guys are just so weird, amirite?" shtick.

I took it as him mocking Emery for the pick and for the coaching hire.

I am more interested in hearing what he has to say when Emery signs Tebow later this week.

Its him deflecting from any sort of criticism of the guy he deemed REALLY SMART.

It moves him a little bit towards the Anti-Emery side but not much.

Now if Emery is successful, he takes credit, if he's not successful he continues the weird, hipster stuff and eventually says "Not sure WHAT he's doing"

And cmon, there is no shame in being a lesser rapper than Guru

If that happened, Emery would jump to public enemy #1 immediately.

I agree. I can't remember B and B flipping so quickly on somebody. He was over the moon after the presser, now suddenly they don't sound so sure. Hell, they gave Angelo years of radio rope before they finally thought it was time for a change. I'm glad to see that they are moving toward the right side of this argument on Emery.

Trestman has worked with him and liked him enough to pursue his rights for Montreal. I really wouldn't be surprised if they go get him.

Post subject:  Re: 4/29: I'm just gonna let this one sit here.

asalaam alaikum people of good will, i offer you the greetings of thought manifested skill

when a rap song starts off with a line like that, you know it's gonna be good. this one happens to start off the GOAT album ever (yes, from backpackerville or whatever disclaimer..... i mean when you can relate to lines like "it's obviously evident my embellishment peaks at 2-92 I.Q." i mean... yeah. i'm a fucking hipster, evidently. not the swift systemic death to hipster bullshit i always thought i was...)

fuck this bullshit it's gonna be ~70 today i gotta take advantage of the "flex scheduling" and start working on my jumper / cardio. sheeeeit i got my "old guy at the ballpark" transistor radio.... if only 950 AM was still around to "keep it real"

this is, of course, after a mcgriddle..... and by a oft-labeled-hipster who has a blog somewhere called cigarettes and gatorade.

"my architechnique sparks the dark streets of your resting grounds...i suggest you warn your town!" that line in and of itself is how i came up with the name "sinicalypse" in 2000/01.
