I don't like it. Bernstein said that 10k will be donated by an anonymous donor if - and only if - 10k can be raised to match it. This is for his kids with cancer charity. I see through it. I know I'm not the only one. It's not like if $9,500 is rasied that this donor will back out. To be honest, I don't even believe that there is this anonymous donor willing to donate 10k only if it's matched. It's just a way to drum up donations. Ask people to donate. It's a worthy cause. People will or they won't. Just don't bullshit people. |

I believe the anonymous donor exists. However, it's someone clearly attempting to buy favor with the most important man in Chicago sports radio. Who could it be? |

No. There is not an anonymous donor. This is a typical sales scam. Yeah, it's for charity so I guess you could say the scam is for the greater good. I still don't like it. Who the hell says get 10k or you don't get 10k from me if you really care about kids with cancer? C'mon. |

Is this really a bad thing, getting people to donate money to help kids with cancer? I'm not going to donate but I have nothing against someone trying to get people to help out kids with cancer. Unless of course they are walking across the country with a goat. Those people can fuck themselves. |

I'm simply saying asking for donations for kids with cancer is enough. This type of trick does not raise more money. People will give if they want. In fact, this type of ploy might hurt as people might think it's an underhanded way and decide to give their money to another cause. Just say hay our goal is 10k and we would love to exceed it. Please give whatever you can. |

I've been to a few live auctions where this scam has occurred: up for auction is a one-week stay at beachfront villa at an "exclusive" resort, several people bid the price up to about $7,000 and one guy prevails. Then someone approaches the auctioneer and whispers something in his ear. The auctioneer acts surprised and excited, and announces that the owner of the villa has decided to donate another one-week stay. The auctioneer then proceeds to guilt the second-place bidder into buying that week. |

The people there know they are at a charity auction so it's not like they are being tricked into donating, that's the reason they are there in the first place. |

Usually it is a company or named person matching the donations, or I am kind of with Beardown, whats the point? Just give the $10K and then ask for more donations, with a goal of $20K. |
