Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein 18h DePaul basketball is actually asking for $100 million in state tax dollars to help build them a new arena? http://bit.ly/126HLrS This mixed with Bulls reality check |

Why won't DePaul basketball just die and go underground like Loyola? Them good days are over for good. |

Loyola has a nice, on site stadium that is easily accessible to students, red line riders and anyone who uses lake shore drive |

Oh, ok here we go Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein 8m Shumpert's sore knee is the reason why DRose needed to play this year. Setbacks are a normal, necessary part of the ACL rehab process. |

I meant that DePaul likely will never be huge again. Therefore why this deal? I really do not think it helps IMHO. |

They were dead as a doornail in the 70s when Joey Meyer was their star. They nearly dropped down to Division III. |

DePaul will come back for a year or two, then disappear for another 10. They were hot during Pat Kennedy's first few years and Dave Leitao's first few years. |

Top Chicago talent doesn't seem to want to play in IL. Until that changes, U of I and DePaul don't stand a chance of being dominant. |

Ass licker Amir just sent Bernsy up the creek without a paddle by sending an email that D.Wade stayed at Marquette all 4 years. Boers agreed. D.Wade left after his junior year. |

I agree with them on Noah's value. High effort big men with zero scoring ability are replaceable. If someone is going to buy high on Noah, you sell immediately. |

A big part of the problem was that they never stepped up to the competition in the Big East. De Paul competed pretty well in the old conference they were in with teams like Memphis. This new conference is essentially like the old one and I expect the Demons to be pretty competitive. |

While I agree with this particular statement in terms of building a championship team and gambling I will not take their word for it. They were completely dead wrong on Asik. I am not Asik lover but in point of fact they had no clue or expert intuition he could do what he did in Houston. |

Rose's contract already hamstrings the Bulls. You wanted the Bulls to give Asik the deal the Rockets did? That would be bad. |

No screw that I was pointing out that B&B for the time he was here made fun of him and called him bad etc. He proved serviceable. |

Personally, I believed the Bulls should have kept Asik and tried to see what they could have got for Noah. Noah sees the floor better on offense, but I'm not sure there is much difference between the two elsewhere. I won't go too much into Noah here because I started a thread on this topic awhile ago in the Bulls section, but Paxson should not do the Paxsonian thing here, which would be to hold on to Noah out of some misplaced belief that he's an irreplaceable part of some future championship core. |

Ya, Dan kinda half secretly loved Omer. And both guys have never been all that enamored of Noah, especially when defenders are 10' off him. |

The Bulls didn't want to let Rose go that easily. As for the Rockets & Omer Asik, it's that third year in the contract Houston offer that would've been salary cap hell and then some for the Bulls. Ditto when the Rockets signed Jeremy Lin. Those contracts, in hindsight, don't look so good now for Houston. |

You can live with a guy like Noah or Asik if you're a well rounded team. Since Paxson has constructed a capped out team that's incapable of consistently scoring, he's going to have to give up something to get a bona fide scorer. Paxson is an idiot if he thinks a high effort, zero offense guy like Noah is untradeable. I'd love to keep Noah around if the Bulls had an actual scorer outside of Rose, but that's clearly not the case. Every year will be a repeat of 2011 unless Pax solves this problem. Failing to do so means wasting Rose's prime. |

Zero scoring ability? He averages 12 a game. He's not gonna win a scoring title but that is hardly ZERO. You make him seem like Ben Wallace |

Failing to do so means wasting Rose's prime. Joakim Noah is part of the foundation of this Bulls' team along with Derrick Rose & Jimmy Butler. He's not going anywhere. I know he's been trying to recover from spinal tap, but right now, the Bulls should be considering a Luol Deng trade in the offseason, especially given the Bulls are currently over the salary cap and not exactly close enough to contending for the NBA Championship again. If they trade Deng and his double-digit salary this summer, I'm all for it. These Bulls aren't bad enough to be in the NBA Draft Lottery again anytime soon, but Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't want to pay the luxury tax again if his team isn't in contention for a title. |

You make him seem like Ben Wallace What I mean by that is he does not constitute a threat to opposing defenses. No one creates a game plan to stop Noah. Now, that only hurts the Bulls because they lack a guy outside of Rose who draws the defense's attention, which is why it's easy for good teams to shut them down. |
