What about Lance Armstrong as the new Penn State hockey coach?

Speaking of Penn State, it's doubtful the guys will mention this on their abbreviated show after White Sox/Cubs at Wrigley, but NBC Sports Network's "Costas Tonight" has learned of a new lawsuit the school & the Paterno family plans on filing vs. the NCAA on an all new episode that'll air after Red Wings/Blackhawks Game 7 around 10P-ish:

So I turn on the radio, hoping for some B&B action and there is Rongey, still there like an hour after the game ended. Anyway, I listened long enought for some old guy to say

"I really don't think this team is going anywhere. I've been a Sox fan for 50 years..."

Rongey interrupts and says "I don't care."

Rongey says 50 years of watching White Sox doesn't mean you know anything more than the casual baseball fan who happens to catch a game.

The next caller starts by saying that Rongey is an apologist for the Sox, Rongey's defense: "I watch a lot more than you do."

To this casual listener I think he's as big an apologist as I've heard in 30 years.

He is just a monumental rectum. How can the organization possibly think having this guy "promote" Sox baseball is a good thing?

Whatever, it's obviously never going to change. One of these employee-for-life things the Sox are so fond of.

To be fair, I don't think you need to have been a fan for 50 years to know this team isn't going anywhere. The caller's point would have been the same without including that tidbit. And really, Rongey is correct that no one cares. The "I've been a fan since" thing is one of the most annoying things about sports radio.

B&B type insults should not be coming from White Sox employees.

I won't quibble about the relevance of being a 50 year fan, one could almost argue that it is 50 years of not knowing the game. But to stop a caller in his tracks for making such an innocuous claim is unnecessarily contentious. To then follow up the next call by claiming his insight is based on having watched more than the caller is what becomes amusing.

He's so bad at the Bernstein impression, but DAMMIT he is NOT going to stop trying.

Gotta love the concept of SMART GUY pre and post host.

As if that's where the smart people in the industry end up.

Hosts that take exception to it are way more annoying.

I mean, joke about it, poke fun whatever. To matter of factly say "I dont care" is not a good policy for a CALL IN show

He's paid to care
