Goff played Bernsie's Alford rant on his show today, is this a common thing with him? Are Dan and Terry brought up from time to time on his show? |

Beardown would know but he's not telling. He's busy with a ball-gagged co-ed in the furnace room. |

I liked when Terry complained "are we really doing the Steve Alford show again?" It's your show, numb nuts. Do something else. |

I just listened to this unhinged bernstein. I really think he should seek treatment. "YOU SHOULD GO TO JAIL TOO!!!!!!!!" li'l danny is borderline insane. Because this isn't about a rape or an asswipe coach covering it up. It's about Jesus. danny has contempt for Jesus. That's why he admired the murderous Ray Lewis and joked about how murder "helps his brand" until Lewis began talking about Jesus. Only then did Lewis become a scumbag in danny's world. PEOPLE WHO JOKE ABOUT MURDER HELPING A BRAND SHOULD GO TO JAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

While Bernstein is right about Alford, the message gets lost when he flips out like that. Just makes himself looks like the idiot. |

He's right, but he's also hypocritical. He's focusing on Alford because Alford represents everything he hates (white basketball players) Why is he not Tweeting Gary Barnett or one of the other 50 coaches that have done similar things? |

I agree he's right about Alford, but Alford isn't close to the worst scumbag in sports. As the caller tried to point out, there's the actual rapist. But beyond that, you could fill a five hour show everyday with various rants against various lowlifes that populate the world of sports. Is that something anyone would listen to? And why is Alford singled out for such over the top emoting while murderers get giggled about? |

You can argue that Pierce's punishment wasn't severe enough (I happen to think it wasn't), but the fact is Alford has gotten off scot-free. I think that's where the anger comes from. Alford received no repercussion for his role in the situation. |

They have been on Alford forever even before this Iowa thing. Has to do with him being unlikable and Bobby Knight I would guess. What I don't understand is why the nuttiness and screaming. I am certainly not an Alford guy (I don't care) but what punishment was Alford supposed to get? He was not the rapist. As was mentioned there are likely a 100 active NCAA coaches that have tried to shield their player/program from some crime. |

I think everyone who is even a casual listener to the show knows all about Alford. Does he think he can blackball him out of UCLA by railing on his radio show and Twitter? I doubt if he can and so it just makes for monotonous radio that I feel very comfortable saying most listeners have very little interest in. Also, he doesn't seem very concerned that Ray Lewis participated in a murder with no repercussions. He makes excuses for Brandon Marshall's behavior. I don't know what's inside li'l danny's head or heart, but for someone who listens as much as I do his fire-breathing on select topics comes off as an agenda against Jesus, college athletics, and white athletes. |

Alford would have been a source of hate had he not done a single thing after his college basketball career. He is, essentially, short Hansbrough. |

Very politically correct of you to say "comes off" as if there is any question about it. |

Just like bernstein thought Roy Hibbert was bad at basketball coming out of Georgetown. Hindsight is 20/20 for privileged kids from Deerfield as much as it is for ignorant hillbillies. |

Bernstein rails against Hawk's explosions and wails for a professional broadcast. The same request can be made of Bernstein. |

I dont know what was said around the Super Bowl, but Ive heard Bernstein laud Lewis with praise many times without bringing up "the incident" Steve Alford does not get the same treatment. |

When someone calls in slurp his knob by agreeing that Lewis was 100 times better than Butkus, he certainly doesn't blow his cork and start screaming, "THAT DOESN"T MATTER!!!!!!!!! THE MAN. IS. A MURDERER!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU LIKE HIM YOU SHOULD BE IN JAIL TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" |

No. They skewered him for professing that Jesus is his personal savior. Before he did that murder was helping his brand. It wasn't faith itself, but rather what they perceived as Lewis' sanctimony. The same goes for Alford. I think the common denominator here is the use of religion to whitewash personal faults. They're accusing Lewis of invoking religion to deflect attention away from the recent controversy he had with PEDs, and then they also hit him when he started to invoke religion to respond to questions about the Atlanta murder. If Alford hadn't invoked religion when intimidated the rape victim, they wouldn't have targeted his religion. They'd still skewer him for intimidating her though. |
