Dan just said this about Gary from Evanston.
What a slap in the face to guys like Cheesehead Scott and others who actually embodied the essence of the bit.
Gary seemed like a very nice guy, but his craps were normally based on a difference of opinion -- not contradictory comments.

Somebody crapping that statement should be the first guy out of the box tomorrow. What a crock

Totally agree with you.
One problem: tomorrow's show is entirely committed to Gary. Don't believe they're taking craps.
Dan just keeps giving me more reasons to jump ship.

I freely admit to being in the BandB ALS, but I don't remember an entire show devoted to Dirty Deeds when he passed away. Oh wait. He didn't lick Bernstein's balls. My bad.

It's not the entire show -- just a segment.
I actually don't mind what they are doing tomorrow. Gary's quirky style is what resonates more with me than his actual craps. I was a fan of the Dan Blocker/Lorne Greene and other bits of info.

Also, these purely-subjective opinions are just the thing that riles up Bernsie -- that's why I started the thread.

I think Patio Steve and Jock Itch Mitch might have something to say about "best of all time" as well. That's the one thing with WYC that drives me nuts. Berns seems to think that history stops when BandB took it over.

Wait. Opinions are necessarily subjective. Wouldn't an objective opinion just be a statement of fact?

Epic fail on my part. Thanks.

Well what about something like policy: I believe we should institute policy x based on the following factors that have emerged from independent, scientific research reports blah blah blah...

Couldn't that be an objective approach that is not necessarily a statement of fact, but only more objective than something like I believe we should institute y policy because I hate this and that, etc.

It's certainly more objective than the later but is ultimately subjective, because even though the opinion has been culled from objective sources your final opinion is personal. That is, while the sources you use in order to form the opinion may be objective (and I think even that's debatable), the reason you used those particular sources to form your opinion are purely subjective.

Long story short. I think objective things are those that are undeniably true or false, or are things that a reasonable person under the circumstances can believe to be true or false. Everything else is subjective.

Gary's craps were at least always light hearted and amusing. That always seemed to be in line with what WYC was originally about and when it was a fun listen to. Not the SUPER SERIOUS long winded e-craps that Danny likes to read; or the ass licker craps from callers like Unemployed Lawyer, Maddux Boy, Mr. Mouth, or God forbid Ten Foot Assbag when he was able to call.

It hasn't been good in a very long time, but I wouldn't say it was never good. In the early '00s, there were some funny characters who called in.

I loathe the entire idea.

Normal people don't "call in" anymore. Back in the day there was no internet, few cell phones, no texting. Only people that call in nowadays have mental problems or live in retirement homes.

I like the concept and hate hypocrites, but people that call in with stupid shit should get the shotgun immediately.

Critics at EXTRA large

I did like that a little better because there was some positive stuff and you'd hear about shows or interviews you might not know about

dumb ass radio callers trying to do GOTCHA moments is just bad.

I mean, in real life, would I listen to what these idiots think about anything? No.

Might want to go back and listen to Ditka's comments for Boers. Amusing, maybe. Light-hearted? No.
