Ya but I think he gets his stuff from other reporters, analysts....etc. I think meat was getting pissed at the sea of comments from faceless fans. That would be like reading the comments at the bottom of a yahoo story or the youtube comments. I didn't hear the initial blowup but that is what I took from the calmer rant during transition.

Despite the axiom that when someobody says "nobody is saying/asking" something that everyone is, in fact, asking it, I defy said axiom when I ask this:

Why is nobody asking the following: if winning a championship is the be all/end all of being an intelligent fan, what exactly does one gain from winning a championship? That is to say, what material difference is there between one's life the day before their team wins a champsionship compared to the day of, compared to the day after?

I mean, all the mantra is is "champsionship, champsionship, champsionship". For what end?

The Bulls won 6 champsionships in the 90s .... how does that impact any fan today? You have memories, sure .... Knicks and Cavs fans have memories, too .... so what?

The Bears won a champsionship in 80s ... so what?

There's nothing wrong with wanting or even demanding champsionships from your team, that's not my point.

My point is, since it's above the din of the mouth-breathing troglodytes to have higher expectations for your team than just getting into the playoffs (for example), what's the specific payoff? Your life doesn't change at all. Nor your job. Or your car. Or your friendships or marriage or other relationships.

Maybe I just don't own a good enough pair of big-boy pants.
