Leary today, possible solo because his Uncle Teary's ISDN line is acting up.

Brian Billick today.

WYC today, the usuals may not call/email because their idol is not in today.

Holmes will say words that rhyme with "eary" a lot, so listen. Or don't.

Did Dan always take off the Jewish holidays or is this a new thing?

Yeah he is a big organized religion guy... when it suits him.

Yeah he is a big organized religion guy... when it suits him.

Spending time with your family doesn't have to be organized religion.

Did anyone else notice it was Dan McNeil who mentioned ISDN line issues? Once the transition was over,it was not brought up by Leary. I wonder if that's a rule: Don't talk about Terry's "arrangement".

I meant taking a religious holiday off because it suits you is a bit odd. I am assuming that by the things he says on air he is anti organized religion and not a weekly temple guy or whatever. Or maybe he is very religious I don't know. Ei8ther way he is being hypocritical.

Not a perfect analogy for a number of reasons, but can an atheist take Christmas off to have dinner with his family?

Post subject:  Re: 9/5 Leary and his Uncle Teary (if they fix his ISDN line

I thought about Christmas too. That doesn't fit though as it is basically a national generic holiday now. That Bernsie also takes off lol. A better comparison might be Easter if it were on a work day.

I mean, I don't think it's any of our places to tell someone how he or she should or shouldn't observe. And I think it's understood that "the evils of organized religion" generally doesn't include Judaism because, well, frankly, it's not evil. You can observe traditions within your family and still criticize an enormous global hierarchy.

I would assume corporations and other organizations have allowances written into personnel files regarding religious holidays, especially for minority religions. Dan may not be into religion, but I definitely see CH's point about taking the day anyway, since it's presumably given to you anyway, to spend time with other family members who also have the day off. Not really relevant, but I appreciated having Christmas off as a student and while working because it meant hanging out with all the other family members who were off as well, even though I am not a Christian. I also worked on religious holidays I didn't celebrate when there was an opportunity to do so.

I recommend watching the services on the Internet to avoid paying synagogue membership fees and the annoyances of traffic, not to mention all the other obnoxious Jews.

Ok well I see taking advantage of a day of with family and I guess I would too. Leary busted Dan on still being a twitter machine today but not related. I do not get your point that I bolded?

No, I think he's plenty into religion. If you listen between the lines, he knows his stuff.

Well, Reform Judaism at this point is basically liberal Protestantism with more flair and fewer bake sales. There's no international system of child rape, there's no pushy evangelizing. It's really hard for me to objectively find fault with it as a denomination.

I don't give 2 shits if Dan takes a day off for a religious holiday. Not a big deal at all. I have plenty of other issues with him to piss and moan about.

Depends on what is meant by knowledge I guess, and the extent of his knowledge. I don't listen much when it's just general discussion, but from the little I hear all I sense is just standard post-modern skepticism and revulsion of religion.

Right. It's barely even a religion at all. At least the black hats in my building believe in something. I'll press the elevator button for them on Shabbos anytime.

Thanks for clarifying. My recent years have been spent thinking all and I mean all religions and/or sub categories have some level of evil lurking somewhere. Probably a Catholic thing.

I mean in terms of his own religion. I'm pretty sure he had a religious upbringing. Or maybe he just read about Tu B'shvat on wikipedia once, I mean who among us hasn't.

There's no probably about it! If you spend 12 years letting those nasty, lesbian, man hating nuns emasculate you, it's gonna leave a mark! Took me years to shake Catholicism out of my brain!

I went to Catholic school for 6 years. I had nothing but respect (I.E. fear) for the nuns & priests. I also was an altarboy,so FU with your disrespect.

Well FU with your fear. That's exactly what they wanted out of you. Looks like it's still working on you!
