I find it amusing Bernstein sounded more upset with the Cutler non slide because it's a CONTRACT YEAR!!! |

Was that Chuck Klosterman on a speaker phone complaining about Steelers' bias? The caller before him suggested that Cutler went head first as some sort of attempt at re-aligning his neck. |

Chuck Klosterman wrote: Jay Cutler's choice to not slide wasn't so that football fans would think he is a tough quarterback. He was showing us all that appearing tough is one part of the dichotomy of the human condition. The other is 1980s hair metal.

Sadly, I can't tell if Klostermann actually wrote this because it sounds a lot like him. |

I'm guessing the Jay Cutler Show starts right at 5pm, so B&B are skipping the update and going straight to Martellus. Interesting. But, they didn't remember Cutler's show was on. |

so they hurredly grab martellus to do a weekly phone interview and they're going and calling it "the martellus bennett show"? just like the jay cutler SHOW, eh? at least there's actually a jaycutlershow.com to make it feel important, as you can't have martellusbennettshow.com straying too far from the cbs local(TM) template. so they'll nix the 5pm update (gasp) and call his weekly call-in a "show" just to try and compete with W&S having cutler, eh? dog eat dog world out there |

btw, how much do you think jaycutlershow.com paid for this awesome graphic? anyways, back to cereal discussion with martellus. not that he's racist or anything, but chocolate milk is better than white milk. PREACH! |

This is awful. It's right on the border of great-bad but it just feels forced. |

hahaha... martellus is interesting. he has thoughts, and one of them is that the score should push adam hoge back to tuesdays so martellus can go longer. he didn't think his XL ~17min segment was long enough, evidently! |

Yes, a little forced and a little uncomfortable. Play nice with the teammate Team Bernstein. It is possible for this to get into a decent flow and be quite fun. |

beni hanna wrote: It is possible for this to get into a decent flow and be quite fun. It definitely could. But I don't know if this is the right chemistry mix. Mac and Spiegel would probably be better suited from a personality standpoint to explore Martellus' world. The build-up probably didn't help. I could feel Bernsie trying to get to the weirdness. Terry was there. In truth, Laurence is truly best option for this type of interview. That show is what is going to be "a thing". |

Is each show only going to be 20 minutes or was the first one truncated for some reason? I just flipped over and caught the tail end of Bennett talking about cereal, which he talked about on the Cutler show last week. How were the 17 minutes before that? |

Seems my concern that MB would be too ~Zany~ for a weekly show could be correct. |

the b&b twitter account is retweeting everyone's gushing love of this segment. martellus lobbied for more time in the wake of the adam hoge revolution (viva!) and i'm guessing that they're going to do something with hoge earlier and give martellus his 30min segment. you can tell the dude wants his media shine.... he's figured that out long b4 desmond clark did =D |

don't think so. he's been starting off these monday/post-bears shows off with multiple segments of zach right out the gate, so we're finishing up with all that before laurence plugs the likely-tuesday-night-show. yeap, we're still under RED ALERT so when i hear something i'll say something. your CSFMB security is unquestionable with vigilance like mine! |

martellus and laurence have a weekly 90 minute "sit down" segment coming up soon (prolly kicking off the first week after white sox season) --- i didnt catch the day, but i did catch that laurence is happy that martellus is trying to think up segments and take twitter suggestions for gimmicky ideas for the show. clearly martellus realizes the value of being a known media commodity and establishing it b4 his career is nearing the end like d-clark, so it seems that the score is giddy to have martellus be "their guy" to try and take some of that oomph away from ESPN1K having the endless formality of the jay cutler show (jay's fine but he is what he is, for better, worse, or just the pure "what the fuck... why not?" martellus seems to endeavor to be "more" than that) so yeah, welcome to the martellus bennett era! he's officially confirmed for 30mins on b&b and now 90 mins with laurence so there's going to be no less than 2hr/week of martellus related programming. i wonder if he'll want to try and hang with laurence and co-host for the whole show? hrmmmmm |

You need a host who is going to poke and prod Bennett each week for memorable responses much like HFC used to do with Ditka. You cannot let him free form with his own agenda, because Martellus is clearly a guy who will say anything for the attention. However, if Martellus is given control he will just stick to goofy things. The station needs to harness it so that he is saying controversial things that will get picked up across the country. |

Post subject: | Re: 9/23: Mac Wakes up For Transition |
cutlers choice not to slide was game time situational awareness. like he said after the game, if he slid there might not been another chance to get a 1st down. and, i think he also knew they weren't running away with the game, and something needed to be done to send a message that the bears were not losing this one. him taking out a defensive safety is a good way to send that message. |
