This is worth a thread.

For those that missed it, Spiegel took out his wang and was beating Bernstein about the face with it during transition.

It was about Bernstein saying the Cubs are all in for Giraridi and have no plan B. That they fired Dale thinking Joe was a lock. Spiegel doesn't trust Bernstein. He yelled at Bernstein another time over one of his scoops a couple of months ago. Forget what it was about. Maybe somebody here remembers.

No, it's not. It's better than a Mini Dicka thread, but that's like saying 3rd degree burns on your right arm is better than being eaten by a pack of rabid wolves.

I used to think it was only Boers that made up shit. Never thought that of Bernstein. Starting to think Bernstein has decided to get into that game. Spiegel seems to thinks so as well.

Seems like Bernstein's scoops are always the kind that can't be proven wrong, no matter the outcome.

Spiegs is the Caller Bob here. You don't question someone's source before the story plays out.

Especially when he has no sources himself.

This show really needs to stop dropping the word "sources". Most of the time they're wrong or fake. My favorite was when Goff was popping up everywhere, saying his "sources" said the Bulls were going to sign James and Wade, opps. By saying "sources" it allows you to say bs, and if it turns out right you look great, if not, oh well, it was my source.

of course there is a plan B, hire someone else if he isnt available. what are they going to do, play without a manager because they didnt hire joe girardi, and they are so confused they cant figure out to hire someone else? of course they have someone in mind to replace sveum, but i am pretty sure it may have crossed someones mind that maybe that person whether it be girardi or someone else isnt guaranteed to happen.

I think pretty much everyone has the same Cubs thought on this. There going hard after Girardi and have no clue what they will do if he doesn't take the job.

And if Girardi doesnt come

They're scrambling. This was NOT the plan.

And he'll probably blame Ricketts

Exactly. There was another fight with Spiegel a while ago where Bernstein said something and then had cover by saying something else. Spiegel then said something like, "You can't lose, then."

Bernstein is smart enough to know not to say anything that will get him sued. I think he was right on some shit. With that in his bank, it's easier for him to make up shit.

Like him saying Greg Olsen was on the trading block. Zack fought with him saying he wasn't. Then Olsen was traded and Zack looked like a fool. Bernstein spiked the ball in Zack's face saying, "How you like me now you gingered haired bitch." (I made that part up. Bernstein didn't say that.)

Still, like I said, getting this one right gives Berntein some cred to make up some shit.

He (Bernsie) needs to be right pretty much all the time at this point for the sake of his schtick. And if he is wrong, "Why do you care anyway? Loser."

"The Cubs are going hard after Girardi and there's no Plan B, though I do understand that a lot of this could be cooked up by Girardi's agent to drive up his price with the Yankees." That's such a giant hedge, it should be on a farm in Normandy.

Bernstein's Bulls guy said some players were unhappy with Rose sitting out. Spiegel called bullshit and said its management feeding BS.

Right. And I think that's B&Bs philosophy. Let's stir shit up. It's harmless. It might hit by accident, if it doesn't it really doesn't hurt anybody so let's do it for the show. They don't consider themselves journalists. It's just gives them shit to talk about. Gives them the ability to speculate on their own made up speculation. You need this shit to kill 25 hours a week. I think they taught Goff this style. That's why Goff told us Lebron was coming here.

I'm glad this board doesn't have people that engage in this type of game. I'd never post here if that were the case.

Nobody would do that, not even Laurence's and his $300k/year salary.

Bernstein has that authoritative way about him that most will believe him. I'll tell you what Bernstein does do: He puts the Score reporters to shame. Zack, Connor and Shuester never break any stories. The HOG doesn't seem to get anything, but we'll give him more time.

I also remember when drinky was the Cubs reporter, Bernstein told drinky of some Cubs story that he got. So there was drinky reporting from Wrigley saying to Bernstein "Hmmm, really? Golly-gee. I didn't hear that. That's interesting."

Bernstein just makes all of the Score reporters look like incompetent fools that just want to ask generic questions, get boring sound bites, tell us what is clearly evident and go home. Which is true of them, by the way.

I really wish you'd stop with this foolishness.

He was at 300K over a half decade ago and he signed a new contract. He has to be pushing 500 by now

Then Larry's idea of being a reporter was simply telling you that he's friends with all of the black players on the Bears.

Larry: I was in the locker room today. I sat on Lance's lap and we read comic books together. Then Peanut came over and said "what's up" to me.

That's where you're wrong, my friend. He was at $250k before I broke the story (eat that one, Larz!) about him taking over the duties at NBC for Paula Faris and they were forced to up him to $300k to keep him at The Score.

No, Doc is perpetuating a board myth. Larry is lucky if he makes enough to pay off the male hookers from going public.
