Dan is in today to regale us with stories of Cub front office brilliance.

Keep me updated, may be another clip and save day.

Serious question: When Dan says he sat down with his Cubs' source for 30 minutes and got xxx information, do you guys believe him? I don't. Or at least don't trust him not to...embellish what information he did receive to suit whatever he wants the narrative to be.

I call bullshit on the perks (land) in Tanaka's contract. Those would have to be disclosed for luxury tax calculation purposes no?

This is at the top of their list of trying to establish credibility when it does not exist!! COMPLETE CRAP!!!!

I agree!!

Dan is ( perhaps already is) becoming Cub management's lap dog. You get the feeling that he's friends with one of the Rickett's, or someone very high up. Recognize where he lives ( Roscoe Village/city) and what his wife does for a living ( big event planner) and the charities he's involved, you get the feeling he's been paling around with them. A regular reporter doesn't get the info on huge studies being done ; he's getting the stuff to protect and promote friends ( perhaps it's Wally Hayward, the head guy of marketing, who worked for the same agency as Dan's wife).

He's coming off as way too chummy about the info and the people he talks to; and if you have the money to buy all the rooftops, then you have money to do other rings and don't need the revenue of video boards to then fix the ballpark or rebuild the team.

Surprised Dan didn't ask that question of his contacts.

I suppose none of that breaking news led to an admission that they were talking out of their asses and how wrong their opinion was on how stupid it is to stay in Wrigley and that the Cubs, of course  , would do just the same business at a baseball mall in Palatine.

Just like the Girardi story...Dan is nothing but a shill for his Cubs "guy". Get the story out the way the Cubs want it out. He just doesn't realize it because he likes to think he is on the "inside".

How did Dan not know the NFL did the rookie symposium?

Hey, Dan finally figured out what I've been saying all along. Congratulations, Dan Bernstein.

Of course, he could have just given it an instant of thought and realized you don't move from a great location to a shit one.

It seems pretty apparent to me who Dan's guy is...the same guy he has mistakenly held out as some kind of major political insider since he was hired.

Terry Parroting Kyrie Irving is soft. How many time you think Terry has seen him played?

As much as he saw Richie Incognito before this year

That's all Terry does is parrot what someone else says. Matt Miller was talking about how he likes Aaron Donald, and Terry chimes in with an oh yeah me too. He does that constantly. This time he surprised me by saying how and why he came to that opinion (by watching the Pitt/ND game). But even still, you saw him in one game and now he's your guy? No, he's your guy because he's being talked about by all your insiders. He just sounds like an idiot everytime he does this, and unfortunately it's about 4 hours a day Monday-Friday. Shut up parrot!

Interesting, didn't know that. That would explain why he talked up Wally Hayward as this genius who would change the way we think about baseball marketing and then was so quiet about him later that I eventually had to google to find out he had stopped working there for what had been quite some time.

I don't think Dan fraternizes with that much flavor.

Bernstein is such a fucking idiot. MLB instituted an international spending limits to prevent teams from "owning the Dominican Republic." The Cubs can build the Taj Mahal of training facilities but it won't help them get a bigger pool of spending money. Dope.

My how times have changed. It used to be about 50/50 love/hate with Bernsie in these threads. If I read today's comments correctly, I think every person ripped Dan one way or another. I love it.

Also, come to think of it, there was also a guy, I think his name was Ira Kaplan, who Dan was hailing as this mastermind who would bring a statistical revolution to the Cubs' scouting department. He doesn't work there anymore either. All part of The Plan.

EDIT: no, it was Ari Kaplan. Ira Kaplan is the lead singer of Yo La Tengo. best google search ever

Most of the Bernstein apologists don't post here anymore.
