How is this bit still going? Last week they couldn't get the guy off of the phone, as he was too busy asking them for help for some other resident who comes into his room every night swearing at him.

How is this ok? Further, how is it ok that they actually cut up his phone calls and use them for promos/bumpers etc?

Does he not have family that are aware of this? How is Dan, monitor of all things just, okay with continuing this? Can you imagine if they had never come across this guy, and drinky pulled some audio from some other station doing this same thing? He'd be screaming about it being criminal to exploit the elderly, that the station should worry about legal ramifications etc.

But, no, each week they get radio boners about an old, addled man calling in to clumsily make his way through a movie "review". They revel in his inability to hear, and guffaw when he pulls out his patented non-sequiturs.

A lot of other shows I would probably just shake my head, but Bernstein continuing to get a chubby over this "bit" each week? Yikes.

A few weeks ago, a caller started hinting at Bob's mental health. Dan immediately hung up on the guy and ignored the call entirely.

Oh, I get that he's a long time guy - I'm questioning how the Arbiter Of Right And Wrong can continue to sign off on a guy calling in weekly from a nursing/assisted-living home? I know the argument will be made that it's probably one of the guy's true joys in life, but at what cost? They mock him - before the call, during the call, and after the call. "That was a thing" and things like that.

Dan gets irrationally angry at guys getting irrationally angry at Coke and their commercials, I just don't know how he sees his weekly call with Bob is "ok".

Simply put,this is 100 times worse than 95% of the crap folks jumped on Mike North about. His "stuff" was more in the vein of a Don Rickles act. I don't know what this is except wrong.

The Afternoon Show has evolved to the point where they no longer use the "Gay" drops. They haven't gotten around to ceasing to mock mental patients for laughs yet. One step at a time.

I'm not a paragon of virtue so I won't be part of the crusade to protect the senile. I do wonder who finds this funny. The well on this bit ran dry six months ago. But this is the same show that keeps performing necromancy on WYC every Thursday. Stop writing lunch bag word puzzles for lame kids, Stain, and come up with some amusing bits for your show.

I think in the beginning they thought they struck Comedy Gold with Bob. They realize it's bad now but Bernstein can't admit being wrong about ANYTHING! So it continues.

I think this is just Mini-Ditka level marketing for The PicWic. They should have already gotten a sponsor for this segment. Either a chain or new releases themselves.

I think Dan self justified when he jumped right on the tell the "people in charge " about Bob Hair. This segment and that call in particular is disgusting at this point. Bob honestly calls in and at time says hi to Rongey as he calls after Sox games and so on. These fucks are doing bad stuff. I can assure you without any doubt... If this was my Dad or something Bernsie would not be worried about the threat of "physical violence" he would be fucked up beyond belief.

That said, as I am not in town I doubt my address makes an impact on a hound dog. One of you fucks that feels like me (and I know you are out there) needs to write /call and get a Feder or Roper type on this shit.

I tried once with Mitch about the never ending PSU shit and never even got a reply.

I love hearing Bob call into Rongey or Rozner on Saturday or some shit. This crap isn't right and that fucking thing the last segment with the Bob Hair thing and couldn't get him off the phone killed me. Fucking people deserve respect. The weirdest thing I got out of that call was I figured from his comments Bob is not as old as some may think.

he's not that old.. there is a photo of him and gary from evanston floating around here (from some remote not too long ago), if i had to guess i would guess he's in his early to mid 60's

I've entirely had it with the Bob from Niles bit too. The hypocrisy of the "bit" is astounding.

Bob seems like a gentle well-meaning individual who clearly has "issues" which are entirely exploited by the show. It has become horribly uncomfortable to listen to as Bob struggles to come up with names and entire points and the "umm"ing can last for painful amounts of time.

Why they are allowed to continue the blatant exploitation of this man is beyond me. If he wants to call in to Rongey or whomever, fine. But these regular segments and in extremely poor taste. How they do not see that is inconceivable.

I messaged Abbatacola on Twitter and he responded that if if thought it were in poor taste, he wouldn't put it on the air. I think Mitch Rosen needs to step in and explain that it is indeed in poor taste.

For once Beardown is right. It isnt like it's in poor taste but hilarious and you feel bad about laughing. It's in poor taste and it's not funny at all.
