Does Dan realize he's being used as Cubs mouthpiece or does he not care? He looks foolish with every" I talked to my Cubs guy" spiel which totally contradicts the previous "I talked to my Cubs guy" drivel. The last one I heard was "The Cubs are not moving.....the studies have been done. It's not financially smart".

Then he tells it like we dont know they want to stay at Wrigley.

My only question is that when I read that agreement it says once they get city approval to do what they need to do, this agreement means shit. So, is the only reason they are on hold is to appease Rahm with the focus of working out an agreement? Because that clause of that agreement seemed real simple to enforce and just move ahead. Dan knows exactly what he is doing and why he is doing it. I think to suggest he doesn't would be silly. It's probably in his best interest to do it, too.

Free tickets ?

When the Cubs rooftop battle heated up a few weeks ago, he actually said on the radio that he needed to check with his Cubs source to determine the legitimacy of some of the newest developments (whatever they were at the time).

His source, if he has one and not some gossip or blog that he packages into a story, is completely one sided and offers nothing but the Cubs perspective.

Dan is bs-ing!! There is NO consequence to him lying or being an outlet for what the cubs want him to say.

They tell Dan exactly what they want him to say on the air and he says it. My issue is that he talks about it like he is getting unfiltered info.

Additionally, nothing dan even says after he talks to 'His source" is anything that is beyond the obvious. The cubs want to work it out, a few rooftop owners are still a problem and the leader of the group is the biggest problem..Mrs Murphy....he could have called me for that!

I remember this. It was during tranny a couple weeks ago when Mac was saying how sick he was of the story and saying 'just move already'. Danny was quick to say what you quoted, as if he had inside info. Now that's changed? What's changed is the message the Cubs want their shills to get out there.

He said that? Somebody at the Cubs must have gotten to him.

Just a year ago, Bernstein ridiculed this Kenny. Called him pointless. Called him stupid. Ripped him for walking around the office in a Cubs uniform. Ripped him for bringing a priest to sprinkle holy water over the Cubs dugout before a playoff series. Said his existence hurts the Cubs. Said that Ricketts needs to launch him. Boers was on Dan's shoulder echoing everything Dan said if you guys remember.

Now Dan Bernstein is off that stance? Like I said, somebody at the Cubs got to him. Maybe it's for more than free tickets.

You'd think Dan would at least explain why he's off his initial position on Kenny. But that's the way he works. Just do a 180 and act like you never bashed Kenny at all.

Right offices, wrong people Bigfan. It's not good for the communications director to actually speak to someone like Bernstine, better that it be an underling who's speaking with approval. The message is the same but it gives the organization the needed deniability should the winds change or sand shift beneath their feet.

Dan isn't a reporter and never has been, as a sports shock jock he doesn't have to maintain any credibility. Which is why he is perfectly content and willing to keep his "sources" secret because a real journalist would get someone to actually speak on the record. His transformation into a true shill means getting some comped tickets and indirectly maybe some work for the wife (or the opportunity for the wife to entertain a potential client).

The owner of the Cubs is in no hurry to put a winner on the field and has no desire to increase his debt, so the team is staying at Wrigley where expectations are minimal and manageable. Bernstine is the perfect media foil (infomercial grade) because he isn't a part of the Cubs but delivers the messages(s) as desired. He doesn't have to be right because he isn't paid to be right, and more importantly he doesn't care.

Has anyone asked Bernstein why he seems to base his opinion of the Cubs vs. Rooftop owners on the 'inside information' from his sources? If he wants to present himself as this reporter getting relevent inside information, why only present one side, and go out of his way to attack the other side?

I may be answering my own question, but I'm assuming he would tell anyone who challenges him after he shouts them down, finds one point and focuses on that, and/or tells the caller it's his show, and his opinion, and to not listen....but I was wondering if anyone had actually asked him about his angle on this.

Nope, its the right person. dan was a roaming reporter for a while and I am sure he knows peter chase....I guess you forgot there was a time when Dan often ripped on the person who was in charge before peter and who dan ripped on publicly and she was let go, making Peter the director. Sharon Van Bitchyface.

dan has another source at the Cubs for other player, in season stuff, but he's not a rooftop guy. Old school score guys know who he is.

And yes, the Hawks are the nicest group and they do stuff like this right, they also just dont call Dan and ask if he wants tickets, but everyone there is instructed to take care of people in this town that can do the organization any good.

I will admit, I benefit from the same treatment at the Hawks. They wont even let people pay when they really want to in those circumstances.

I had the privledge of going to meet certain players in my life and as a kid, its the coolest thing ever, Artis, Colby, Orlando, Kingman, Reggie (I got his dog), McMahon....any chance you get for you kid to have that memory, take it.

I always appreciated every chance like that someone gave me and I never would have ever expected it.

One of my friends, his kids are such shitheads, that you cant go to a game with them, unless they each get at least 2 baseballs and a few autographs or the crying starts.

Went to a Northwestern/Ohio State hoops game. They tossed the mini balls into the crowd, each kid got 2. Players stayed on court after game to sign them and take pics.

Coach Fitz was there, he stops, grabs my nephew, one other kid we brought and my buddys 2 kids....to take a pic at center court.

We take the pic, we are walking out and this one kid is crying his eyes out? I am totally confused...these kids just got autographs and pics with coaches and player (They dont know its NU) a 7 footer is a 7 footer.....but I am stumped as to why this one kid is crying.

Finally, after he cries all the way to the car, dragging his feet like someone just shot his dog, I ask again "WHAT IS SO BAD????' and he screams "I WANTED A PICTURE WITH THE HEAD COACH ALONE!!!!!!!!"
