The only thing better than having drinks with basketball coaches is having drinks with The Philly Phanatic.

That was interesting. Mac asks for details and Bernsie clams up and can't come up with anything nearly as
interesting as he was making the evening with the Phanatic sound.

I always mixed up Tim Baffoe and Tim Sassone's names. It was my poor attempt at a joke.

Currently trying to determine whether Marquette is a better job than Illinois for basketball coaching.
I really hadn't thought about it before but it is an interesting argument, with a lot of pluses going into
Marquette's column.

marquette is the better job, no football program to compete with, located in a "real" city (compared to champaign at least), only 90 minutes from most of chicagoland, play in an NBA arena (more seats, more boxes, more earning potential), i can't comment on player facilities

Of course Marquette is a better job. Illinois probably isn't even top 30.

Marquette is not a better job. At best, it is equal, but even that is a tough case to make. That's why Buzz Williams left for a program worse than Illinois.

I once got followers after Jason Whitlock replied to my tweet, because my twitter description was something like "Your #1 source for Washington Redskins news in the NW Chicago Suburbs."

This was kinda my take. I think Buzz sees the writing on the wall that The Big East is dying as a basketball
conference and wanted out to the ACC in any form possible.

any basketball conference would welcome marquette with open arms don't you think?

Nobody gives a shit about your kids baseball tournament. Dan reviewing how they handled the weather last season, really?

I guess Dan and Terry's guys were wrong about Smart leaving VCU. Both had him leaving last night, and then nothing. Their "guys" strike again.

Dan's over-the-top aversion to being in the sun (IT CHANGES YOUR DNA AND GIVES. YOU. CANCER!) would explain the deathly pallor he always has in pictures.

Yes they would be attractive for basketball which is why the Big East makes sense for them right now.
As was mentioned before, they don't have football and a relatively small student body so they would
not make any sense for the Big Ten or ACC.

I gotta concur with Dan. I'll take 20 degrees over 90.

Bullshit. Room temperature is 72. Think about absolute value here. Why would you want to be 52 degrees away from room temperature instead of 18? Also consider that cold temperatures are worsened by wind chill more often than high temperatures are worsened by high humidity. We're in Chicago! It rarely gets unbearably hot anyway!
