It will be interesting to see him address this and if he touches at all on the jewish/racism comments. From some of the extended audio I heard on radio today she was goading him into talking about different types of jews and racism and a load of other stuff I did not get when this broke. |

This will be a truly interesting show. I may have to listen. Dan is torn so many different ways on this. Rich guy, job creator, guy who signs the checks, knows the correct social order But he also spoke too freely and hired a coach who is less knowledgable about NBA than Bernstein |

Come on, we all know DB is "down by law" and he will take the 100% PC road, he will then of course explain to you the legal complexities of attempting to force the ownership sale of the team. Next he will assure you that Adam Silver is a REALLY sharp guy, because he got the job, so he must be really sharp. If this happened in the NFL, I can assure you that some action would have already been taken, even at the risk of the countersuit by Sterling. |

I'm asuming Dan will call the NAACP racist and go on for years about how racist they are and that anybody who supports them is racist. The fact that Sterling is a Liberal may make Dans brain hurt. The Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP will not award Clippers owner Donald Sterling with a lifetime achievement award after all. Sterling, who is being investigated by the NBA on accusations of making "disturbing and offensive" remarks about minorities, was set to be honored by the civil rights group on May 15 at a gala celebrating the organization's 100th birthday, alongside other honorees such as Al Sharpton and Mayor Eric Garcetti. I'm also wondering why the honorable Rev. Al Sharpton would agree to be honored with such a KNOWN racist? |

Wasn't the NAACP thing part of Sterling's settlement of one of the housing discrimination suits? I think Sterling ponied up a large donation to the NAACP in exchange for the honor/as part of the deal to settle the lawsuit. Sterling sorta sounds/looks like the actor who played Laura San Giacomo's dad in Just Shoot Me. Kinda figure Sterling's social circle buddies busted his balls about his pedo-piece posting pics with black dudes on the Instagram. Wonder if he or she will out any of them. |

Curious Hair wrote: "I need to know that someone I respect a great deal is not friends with Donald Sterling anymore." Maybe he just shouldnt respect him so much anymore? because Jerry isnt going to no longer be friends with the guy. Maybe he will UNLIKE him on Facebook? |

He said that Reinsdorf's friendship with Sterling was "unfortunate." No word yet on being on the wrong side of history, though. |

Dan is usually very adamant with regards to WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE in a situation like this, but he's being quite generous and allowing Adam Silver, etc. enough time to act. It's 2:00 and I don't think he's yelled or even raised his voice in an indignant matter yet. |

Forcing Sterling to sell the Clippers would create a taxable event and he'd have to pay long-term capital gains tax @20% of the increase in value. $500 mil (isn't that what the crappy Bucks went for?) -$20 mil (basis) ------ $480 mil x .20 = $96 mil. Whereas if he can put the franchise into a trust and pass it on to his heirs, the heirs would benefit from a stepped-up basis. That is, the heirs tax basis would go from $20 mil to $480 mil, so they could sell the franchise the day after Sterling dies without paying any capital gains tax. |

Also, for all the talk about Reinsdorf bravely hiring minorities, well, his good friend Sterling seems to give lots of money to the NAACP. Not sayin', just sayin', but maybe Uncle Jerry doth protest too much. |

What happened to the thread subject line. 'Allegedly' seems unnecessary at this point, Sterling's lawyer has conceded it's Sterling on the tape. Unless the allegedly applies to the "racist" aspect of the comments. |

October 31, 2012 show thread: Curious Hair wrote: badrogue17 wrote: Did he ever give his reasoning behind the NBA players are the best athlete bullshit?? What is he basing that on? He's basing it on the time Donald Sterling took his date into the Clippers' locker room (where men go to work in their office) and said "look at those beautiful black bodies!" Curious Hair wrote: Listening to the 2 and 3 hours I missed today. This caller is pretty well-reasoned, that you can't quantify which sport is more athletic than another and so it's really kind of a mug's game. "No it's not."
Look. at. their. BODIES. Remarkable physical specimens! Oh my God, Dan is Donald Sterling. |

Carolla hosted today. Sterling was Alison's only news item, for the 15 minutes left for her to do news at the end; what's with 20 minutes+ of ads eating into actual content nowadays. Getting to be a tough listen, even with a thumb on the 30 second skip button. Carolla mostly focused on the age difference between Sterling and the gf and how the gf was clearly setting up old dude. He had a good line turning "juice" into "jews". Aisha Tyler was fun as a guest host. I need to track down her podcast. |
