I remember a few years ago Terry said, on a few occasions, that after he saw Jordan practice with the Bulls at the start of his rookie season that he was one of the first to know how great MJ was going to be.

and to that I quote this: Zander Hollander, in his annual basketball book preceding Jordan's rookie year, proclaimed him to be potentially the best basketball player of all time.

Ethan Skolnick thinks the Heat will be fine. Therefore, the Heat will be fine.

Rozner bringing some good Dark Age Blackhawks talk. Well, pre-Dark Age, right on the cusp.

I started laughing at Terry's giraffe joke and didn't stop until the end of the CBS Sports Minute. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Dan - pitching is almost entirely about velocity

Now "command and control" does matter.

I don't think he ever had an understanding of baseball.

WYC? This from a 5'8" guy who hosts a radio show and says he can hit a 95 MPH fastball?

There are many acolytes like this. We have a guy in our ROTO league that has transformed in a saber moron. He had the worst draft of all time last year relying solely on sabermetrics. They have no balance in their assessment of players. The eye test still tells you something.

It's just something to make a guy feel like he's smarter than everyone else. The guys who you think are good are the guys who are good. They finish their careers with winning records and lots of RBI. There isn't some magic formula that declares Justin Ruggiano to be better than Babe Ruth, but guess what? Theo and I are the only ones who know it!

You tell me Max Bishop scored 120 runs in 1930 while hitting .250, I don't need SABRmetrics to know what happened. The sonuvabitch walked a lot. That should be obvious to a fucking child. But bernstein would act as if it was a revelation.

I did find it strange that LeBron didn't bend time and space yesterday, but maybe he's saving that for Game 2.

Danks before sugery 91 mph avg fastball
Danks now 87 mph avg fastball

under normal circumstances I would just say cut the guy, but considering the options, I guess you keep sending him to the mound.

What else can they do? They're not going to eat that money. Hahn made a big deal about Jerry swallowing a few mil on Keppinger. They have to hope that he gets better. Velocity isn't his problem. He can't fucking locate. There have been plenty of guys that thrived with 87 mph fastballs. They weren't losing pitchers. Danks is a fucking loser.

You sure?

Id assume the those 4 miles an hour probably masked a lot of his lack of command in the past

I don't think losing four mph off his fastball helps. But ultimately, losing a bunch of games 3-2 as opposed to 7-2 doesn't really change anything. He'd find a way to lose with Gibson's fastball.

i have a theory on baez that's gotta be the antithesis of this baseball prospectus thing that dan's preaching to the flock: the cubs invited him to spring training to show him off and from what i remember he looked like he was just about the best thing going on the team. but then they sent him down for "seasoning" and to "start his service clock way later on"

this has perturbed the ever-enthuiastic baez, who back in high school went as far as to get the MLB logo tattooed on his back roughly where the IRL patch would be sewn to the back of his future MLB jersey, so he's just having a shitty go of being an iowa cub. and then a few days into the season he's sulking like "why the fuck am i here?" and he gets eli whiteside up in his face pointing and screaming about professionalism and how so many people are lucky to be here and you gotta put in work nobody is entitled here and rah rah rah rah yeah i'd want to hit him too.

then he fucked up his ankle and had to come back and make the best of it in...... iowa. yeah have fun with that javvy!

i think the cubs screwed the pooch with him for a bit giving him the taste of the bigs he'd been expecting his whole life, and then after doing good he got shoved down for political/$$$ reasons, which has me hyped up that the team is ready to sign a 28-29 year old manny ramirez for $200+ mil "when it's time", no doubt.

btw, in addendum to my confession that i'm not quite 100% convinced that the cubs are ready to go spend $200+ mil on a 28-29 year old manny ramirez/caliber player, i just checked out the digital landscape and i'm pretty sure i could be the first human being in recorded history to use the hashtag #WhenTheCubsSignStanton if i was so inclined.

your move, reality.

Rozner is a host that does an actual SCHTICK, in comparison to BernSTINE who is an actual idiot.
