I haven't bothered because Sir was on. Cowley bopped Dan at a couple points. His usual know it all self bumped up against Dan's usual know it all self. Unintentionally funny. |

CH , DiC , lots more . Maybe I'm doing some revisionist history but it sure seems like when I first joined there were far more BnB fans than detractors and any negative words against the show was met with a cadre of resistance and defense of those 2 fuckwits. Now its gone pretty far the other way thank god. Everyone has wised up. |

I think Danny was spot on re: "bandwagon fans" and the Blackhawks. Then, of course, Learry, "you're absolutely right, Dan". |

I would actually make time to hate listen to Cowley and Berns more often--Cowley can out bullshit Berns and it's interesting when someone can talk faster and use their own bullshit sources, how quickly Danny backs down. He used to be so vital. Ah well. |

I feel like the ratings book isn't enough, we really need to send a message to Larry's surrogate father by not talking about when this idiot is jammed in to co-host the show. Good news for Rozner - no matter how much his stupid "why do you hate the _____________" meatball screaming/asslicking of Dan annoys the listener, he looks absolutely incredible as co-host in comparison to Larry. |

Leary did give Bernstein some decent resistance on Dan's repeated whining about Cubs critics. Dan again felt the need to wonder why Cubs fans were upset with the team "when they've been told over and over they would be bad" -- as if that excuses the historic badness of the last few years. Leary even suggested it's possible that the other 29 teams are now playing the same angles as Theo and therefore The Plan may never work. I was hoping he would go harder at Dan, but it was a start. |

Leary did actually also stand up to Dan regarding bandwagon fans and went into some soccer story. Then Bernsie gave him that doesn't matter. Then Dan tried to go racist Rockford and Laurence did challenge him and foil Dan's trolling. |

Nice work Some Guy , JORR, Robert chief and others RFDC, Don Tiny, and Hatchetman refuse to go silently into the good night. Their work is not done yet. I don't know that I'm ALS anymore. Not full time anyway. I do know, however, that I can do without people writing the same nonsensical bullshit most days about BnB saying the same nonsensical bullshit most days .... 'bullshit-ception' doesn't make their show any better, Mitch any more nervous, or the threads any more readable. Both versions of nonsensical bullshit have gone from amusing, to distracting, to just plain annoying, uninteresting, unoriginal, and ultimately pointless. It'd be nice if the threads weren't that way as often as they are. It'd be considerably nicer if the damned show wasn't that way as often as it is. And when either isn't rife with said nonsensical bullshit, it's fun and even compelling. But, both sides that offer the nonsensical bullshit are, apparently, too goddamned stupid to avoid drawing from that well. Not my job to fix either side of the equation, and even if I thought it was there's no feasible way for me to make whatever changes I thought necessary. So, I take what I can get, leave the majority of it, and try not to get caught up in the nonsensical bullshit shitstorm too terribly often. In any event, it's a rotten shame. |

I listened for a little while this afternoon while driving & heard Cowley telling Berns that the rift between Gar-Pax & Tibs is way overblown. Cowley didn't just go along with Berns & his usual BS. It was also nice to hear Leary stand up to Dan & disagree with him n a couple of different topics. |

dan's newfound hockey dad pride is blinding him to what this whole blackhawks thing really is.... it is a giant bandwagon.... and luckily for us and the team they will be good for the forseeable future.... but the second they become mediocre or not title contenders they will step back in to the sports abyss that chicago baseball is stuck in.... the only team that is "W/L record proof" is the bears... |

billypootons wrote: but the second they become mediocre or not title contenders they will step back in to the sports abyss that chicago baseball is stuck in.... the only team that is "W/L record proof" is the bears... Couple points on this. The Bears themselves, to their credit, have been fairly loss-proof in recent years. For all the sturm und drang of the Lovie years, they haven't had a truly dreadful season since 2002, and even that gets a mulligan (WHOOOOOOOOOA UNBELIEVABLE) because they effectively played 16 road games. If you traded the last ten years of the Lions' or Rams' record book with the Bears', I think you'd see a definite falling off in fan passion. What you wouldn't see, though, are non-sellouts and blackouts, because Soldier Field is too tiny and Chicagoland too large for it to ever not sell out, so the vicious cycle of bad attendance begetting no telecasts begetting more bad attendance would never happen here like it did in St. Louis, Detroit, Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Oakland, Tampa, wherever else we've seen it happen. A surprisingly high number of locations, really, for this supposed unbeatable monolith that is the NFL. That said, I don't think the Bears are 100% invincible to people finding other stuff to care about if the situation is right. The truth of the matter is that Illinois is not a cultural cradle of football on the level of Texas, Ohio, western Pennsylvania, or the former slave states. We don't build $60MM stadiums for high schools, we don't grow STUDS, we don't even have much going on at the collegiate level relative to other places. Our local love for the Bears isn't rooted in the sport of football so much as still being in love with this idea of them representing our working-class heritage -- we're Grabowskis. JORR has caused enormous rows with this, but the Chicago Bears truly are just a popular TV show. |

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Bears if the Star Wars museum goes through. If they do indeed take both the South Lot and Waldren area and eliminate tailgating, while at the same time continue to raise prices, that may cause a few of the Grabowskis, including this one, to bag attending live games. |

Stupid Dan has his finger stuck up his rear end and calls it the pulse of youth. The trendiest of trendy sports with the kids isn't hockey, it is lacrosse. |

Though loathe to never say never, I think the days of not selling out will be extremely rare in the future. As one who remembers the days of the black-outs (and trying to find someone with a directional antenna to get the South Bend station), the modernized Soldier Field has great football oriented sight lines and amenities. Not only is there enough demand to fill another 10,000 seats but I think Chicago area could actually support a 2nd NFL franchise (though it would need a suitable football venue). a retard wrote: It will be interesting to see what happens with the Bears if the Star Wars museum goes through. Not tailgating is one thing, not attending is quite another. Many have modified their tailgating despite the city's efforts to minimize the experience. Maybe once a season we'll do the south end parking lot thing, replete with food and booze. The problem is that people without tickets can be ejected. Instead we've taken to tailgating in the Monroe garage, putting the difference in parking ($80) towards a couple bombers of great craft beer. We drink less, drink far better, and enjoy ourselves much more. |
