Four Eastern Conference championships in very down years for the conference. Two Finals losses as favorites. One strike shortened season championship against a team decimated by injury. The other championship earned as heavy favorites that they won by miracle. I won't call this team smoke and mirrors but I think there is a myth about their dominance. |

Seems close. I would say the West has been the story the last decade. Edit to account for the Celtics. |

Dominance is definitely a myth. The Eastern conference is horrible and the Heat were hardly dominant in the Finals. This whole Heat team has been overblown for a long time. They weren't exactly paper champs but with 2 hall of famers at the top of the roster and all the bluster when they came together, I think it's fair to say the Heat failed to deliver on the hype. |

The fact that "four straight finals appearances" is even said should tell you all you need to know. |

I believe they are the first team to make 4 straight appearances to the Finals since the great Celtics teams of the 60's. |

They weren't heavy favorites last year and they were underdogs this year. |

Just another team. Hardly dominant. |

They were a very good team who took advantage of a weak Eastern Conference. Making the finals four straight years is no small feat, but it's nothing close to a dynasty. I would put them down with the Rockets of the '90s. They had a couple very opportunistic rings with one great player and a decent supporting cast, but nothing for the ages. Dwyane Wade = Kenny Smith |

The Heat have been to the Finals and won more championships than any other team in the NBA since The Decision. I would say that vindicates LeBron. |

Dwyane Wade = Kenny Smith But I think ultimately the Rockets of the 90's will be remembered a bit more fondly than the Heat. There was never the enormous hype, declaring themselves a dynasty before playing a single game and celebrating more titles than they ended up winning. The Heat set themselves up to look foolish. They may end up as one of NBA history's cautionary tales. |

The Bernstein hype machine and I will mention him since this is his thread made them out to be far more dominant than they actually are. I still believe that the Bulls without the injuries could have taken them but we will never know for sure. |
