I tuned in a few days ago on the way home and they were giggling their asses off about that. It's really not that funny. They're still playing that and giggling about it?

B&B think Sox should be sellers at the trade deadline. I don't see anything of value. we don't need anymore salary dumps.

OK. This is now 5 straight days of Vin Scully talk on multiple shows. I know he is an awesome announcer, but why in the hell is a Chicago station referencing an LA announcer 5 days in a row during multiple time slots when neither team is even playing the Dodgers? Who does he have photos of? Mitch?

I listened to a few of his games this year. He has become Harray Caray albeit with a better voice. He was late on his calls, missed several plays, and didn't know players' names. Watch three innings, and you'll see what I mean. He made at least five obvious mistakes in one broadcast.

I could handle losing Dunn and having August-September be the Paulie love tour.

He is not the '05 Paulie..but was there last Saturday for his HR in a shitty game and LOVED IT!!!

BTW...I know Hawk is/has been losing it but for Terry to call him "daft" and Danny boy to tell him to check his facts...that is sad!! Terry is probably sitting in his own urine as we speak and Dan is the KING of "it's not an opinion...it's a fact" out of his own GAY ass.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT using GAY in a homophobic way...but in a way that we ALL KNOW DAN IS GAY!!!

I may have missed earlier discussion of Dan's giggle-inducing newest bestest audio clip, but did it sound to you like he was saying that Carl WAS no longer with us? I know he used past tense as far his work/smarts etc, but never did he say how much he misses him etc. I know Carl is around (I just saw him interviewed somewhere), but referring to the truly impressive work he did (back in the day, and a lot of it behind the scenes) in the past tense doesn't necessarily = Farmio thinking he's dead, right?

I don't know, I guess if there was a payoff where Rob said "actually, you know he's still alive right, Farmio?" then it might be funny .... but without Farmio saying something like "you must really miss him, Rob", I am not convinced that Farmio was saying he was dead .... and even if he did think he had passed, that clip of audio was about .00000000001% as funny as Dan was making it out to be.

Whenever Dan has one of his giggling fits I can't help but think of that "shenanigans" scene from Super Troopers. His shenanigans are cruel and tragic.

I'll admit: when the old guy called and said "I've been a Hawks fan since 1948, and my son is a rabid fan, too," and Terry did his meatball voice and rephrased it as "I've been a Hawks fan since 1948, and my son is Rabbit Maranville," I LOLed.

I'm just listening to a portion of the show from yesterday, y'know the part where Dan condescendingly tells everyone how proud he is of them for not going "full meatball" for his "very measured" article about the Blackhawks logo? Anyway, who the hell is he crappin? He says that he had braced himself for a meatball fest of angry reactions, but surprisingly most people "got it", and he is proud of them.

WHAT?

He has disabled comments on his articles, right? Where is the feedback coming from, then? Twitter? Ok, isn't this the guy who proudly goes around blocking people that don't agree with him? So, effectively, he has been slowly filtering out negativity from his timeline? So is he really surprised when his cocoon of asslickers agrees with him? Further, is it surprising (later in the show) that maybe people aren't as accepting of his take?

Great observation, Harry.

How to make it look like the whole world agrees with you:

1. Do not allow comments on the website where your opinion appears.
2. Block people on Twitter with differing opinions.
3. Insult, ridicule, and/or hang up on callers to your radio show with differing opinions.
4. Declare how "proud" you are of all the less intelligent and less informed out there who have partaken of your infinite wisdom and, of course, have decided they agree with you.
5. Oh, and lest I forget, have a stupid and lazy sidekick who will pretty much agree with anything you say.

Reminds me of a few months ago when Kim Jong Un declared himself elected by a unanimous vote in North Korea. Amazing . . . in a country of millions, no one disagreed with him. Dan would make a great tolitarian dictator.

And while I'm at it, I actually went and read the column, and I don't buy his argument that somehow the 'C' with the tomahawks is less offensive than the Indian head.

The Indian is just that--an Indian, like the one the WWI batallion and the team are named after. Yes, it has face paint and feathers. Did not Indians of that era like Black Hawk wear paint and feathers? I believe they did and I don't find that inherently disparaging. OK, it's not a 100% life-like drawing--call it "cartoonish," if you must. Lots of human beings of every race and ethnicity have been represented by drawings of this nature for a variety of purposes and I don't find that in and of itself inherently disparaging either. We're not talking about a grinning, bright red half-wit here like Chief Wahoo in Cleveland, or a full-body rendition of a whooping savage as some teams have used in the past. It's a representation of a real person who figured in the history of Illinois and the midwest.

Tomahawks, on the other hand, are primarily a weapon of warfare, and represent the supposed war-like qualities of the Indians to the exclusion of other aspects of their culture. Yes, I suppose they were at times used as axes or cutting tools, but I think the primary connotation of the tomahawk is as a weapon along with killing, scalping, etc. So, Blackhawks, if you're going to have to lose something to go with the times, maybe lose the tomahawks, not the Indian, despite the learned opinion of the high-and-mighty Mr. Bernstein. I believe the Atlanta Braves may be headed in that direction, too. They're wearing alternate uniforms more often lately with the tomahawk missing from under the script 'Braves.'

Thank you CSFMB for providing a forum for my ramblings where Danny Boy can't delete me or block me or hang up on me. There ARE other opinions out here besides his.

I think what's kept the Blackhawks safe, other than the fact that memorializing Black Hawk is something that's seen throughout northern Illinois, Iowa, and southern Wisconsin, is that Indian imagery and verbiage aren't really emphasized beyond the logo. It's poor form to write that the Blackhawks "scalped" an opponent, or scored "heap big goals," and dressing up like an Indian to go to games also seems to be tacitly discouraged. There's no war chant, no tomahawk-chopping. We just cheer through the national anthem. To hear it from Wings/Blues fans, we disrespect all Americans, not just Natives!

You know, when you think about it, who was Black Hawk? He was an enemy combatant who fought bravely but ultimately lost, and we respect him for leaving it all out there to fight us. He was hockey before hockey.
