The subject is a reference to yesterday's show. An extremely angry man called in and referred to Dan as "Jewboy."

This is the first time I've listened in a while, and are these guys still seriously pissed off at Bill Simmons for daring to criticize Reinsdorf's spending habits?

Speaking of Simmons and Very Smart People worship, this destruction of the supposed genius of Darryl Morey is really good https://medium.com/the-cauldron/the-man ... f16d8b754a This bit in particular seems pertinent to B&B:

Quote:
This era of advanced statistical analysis and alternative sports journalism is supposed to mark the exposal of sports narratives out of step with reality, not the perpetuation of them. Still, Morey has emerged each season with new profiles of his brilliance which regurgitate the same erroneous talking points we’ve been fed before. Instead of serving as a corrective for misguided narrative, the media has become married to it.

That whole piece is a grand slam. You could pull at least ten pertinent quotes out of there.

This alleged drunk driver is quite happy. I wonder what show he is listening to?

In the end, Morey’s true distinguishing characteristic is his friendliness to the press. He gives a breadth of access and speaks openly, and it’s clear he receives deferential coverage as a result. In particular, Morey and Simmons have wagged the dog on Morey’s and the Rockets’ narrative for mutual benefit. They are each ubiquitous and self-promoting; they are each masterful at manipulating their individual brands to bolster the public perception of them as knowledgeable gatekeepers.

Never has this been more obvious, nor more shameless than yesterday, when Grantland published an apologia that anticipated and attempted to undercut any justified critiques of Morey’s disastrous offseason, and general lack of achievement.

This feels familiar, too. Theo tells you what he's doing.

this show is verging into dangerous territory even exploring the plausibility that Mirotic might be the next Dirk.

This entire show should be taped and replayed at a later time. You're trying too hard to prove the Bulls right, Dan.

Yes, the same goes for Trestman and especially Emery. For as much mockery as meatballs complaining about Love Smith's demeanor on the sidelines and Jerry Angelo's non-answers produced, these same hosts seem to be under the impression that Emery and Trestman giving drawn-out press conferences attempting to explain their bad decisions does bring the Bears closer to a championship.

Yeah, and dan keeps saying Nowitzki and Kukoc as if they were the same guy.

Also in the same breath as "you can't have him come off the bench."

But the same guy also thinks Calvin Quarter is the standard for white Bulls players.

Wow, is he really making that comparison? I didn't know he was that high on Miroitic.

I'm not sure how he even gets the minutes this season being the 4th big man in that rotation. I know he's considered a stretch 4, can he get some time at SF?

This was my thinking. Mirotic no matter how tall is the SF. Pau, Noah and Taj share time.

Isn't that the whole paradigm of the modern NBA, that these strict positions don't mean much anymore? Certainly they don't on offense. bernstein talks about height way too much. There aren't any huge space-eating centers worth a damn anymore outside of Hibbert maybe. Two inches only makes a difference if it's on your nose or your cock. Of course, you don't want to get caught in a mismatch on defense with some 6'4" guy guarding Nowitzki, but I'm sure a guy like Gary Payton could cover him better than most bigger guys anyway.

I really see this in HS Bball now. There are no positions. Just motion.

The absolute best part of the show today was Sam Smith, of all people, having to reel in the two NBA meatballs (about Mirotic). Dan read that he might be great - in one place - decided to barf it up, bobblehead Terry agreed, and the freaking guy on the Bulls payroll had to tell them to slow it down! Classic.

I can't believe they had to ask two guests in the same day why no one will tell the real truth, or at least the Dan Bernstein-approved interpretation of the truth, about Jerry Reinsdorf. Why didn't they go for a hat trick and have Ethan Skolnick on to see if he knew why?

Ethan Skolnick is one of the people saying the Bulls are cheap... did so on draft night and on NBA.com. Dan will not go after a friend... ruins the narrative.
