I don't know how it came up. They were race baiting or something. You know how Dan does it. Talk about how hockey fans are racist. One thing leads to another. Then Dan made this comment. It was a few minutes before I made this thread if you want to check out the podcast. |

Benjamin Franklin and John Adams did not own slaves. Benjamin Franklin would hump anything with two legs but I don't think you were allowed to hump other people's slaves. |

they had texters complaining that "they are free to chew whatever they want, this is america, blahblahbalbhablhab" to which he was like, do what you want, our founding fathers chewed the hell out of tabacco and dan also decided to add something along the lines of, "chewed tabacco while humping their slaves" or some crap. an attempt at chiding the fanbase which is seems to becoming more and more a fanbase that listens out of hatred more than anything else. |

were these guys fucked up or what? how can you support slavery AND have sex with them too? It just does not compute from any sort of moral equation. |

Keep that in mind the next time you hear about a Supreme Court decision made in part on the "original intent" of the framers of the Constitution. |

well, even if the original intent was fucked up I'm not in favor of the supreme court deciding what's best for us ignoramii. |

The same way that you can both like toast and get your penis stuck in a toaster http://gawker.com/firefighters-help-man-remove-penis-from-a-toaster-1442258723. Its just your tool. And yes, I agree its fucked up. |

These guys were gutless lowlifes IMO. The more I think about it the more irritated I get. |

Does Beardown realize he's just like Dan Bernstein when it comes to issues of race? |

Nas wrote: Does Beardown realize he's just like Dan Bernstein when it comes to issues of race? Beardown does not realize that. Beardown rejects that notion. Beardown would have never owned slaves if he lived in the late 1700s, but Beardown would have tried to bang Thomas Jefferson's slave. |

Hatchetman wrote: These guys were gutless lowlifes IMO. The more I think about it the more irritated I get. It's a complicated political decision. They wanted separation. They wanted a new nation. Those were primary. Most of the big names wanted abolition, however, they also knew they couldn't get southern states to agree and so, chose to let others in the future deal with what they considered an ancillary problem. Jefferson is a little more troubling on a personal level. He never granted the woman with whom he had this relationship her freedom, even after his death. I don't think he gave it to all of his sons. The family sold them off as assets of the estate as Jefferson died in serious debt. |

Well it's not to hard to figure out why. When you didn't want to sleep with your wife it didn't take much effort to find a woman you could have sex with. Clearly these men loved control too. I think it meant more for a white woman to sleep with a slave. |

well there are varying degrees of depravity. at the bottom level you have those who OWNED slaves and had sex with them. I'm not sure how many of the "founding fathers" fit into this category. |

I'd also like to add that nobody in "sports", "sports media" or "sports message board media" has done more than me to try to solve race relation issues. Nobody has done more than me to try to mend fences. I should be heralded and celebrated by all races. The Chicago sports landscape owes me a debt a gratitude. So, let the line begin. Everybody should post a "thank you" to me. |
