That defines him.

Why not get these enemies on the air to discuss why they are dumb asses? Or their differences?

Beardown: Drinky, why don't you book them?

Drinky: Ahhhhh...I'm watching porn during the show. So, ahhhhhhh...I don't care.

Beardown: Gotcha. I thought so.

I'm just saying, why not book Gordon Wittenmyer for a discussion? Why not put Rick Telander on?

Wouldnt' that be good radio?

It's cuz Bernstein doesn't want to hear the other side. The side that's not a part of his agenda. The side that could prove him wrong. That's why. I don't consider Terry. As we all know, he just nods his head to Bearnstein and collects his 500k a year. Don't blame him. I'd do the same if that's all it took to make 500k.

Wittenmeyer called him out as the pisher that he is. His inner schmendrick cannot be contained.

a couple'a weeks ago dan invited a would-be bernsteinian-ass-whooper to a live remote. THE EVIDENCE IS IN. THERE IS NO ARGUMENT HERE.

Don't discount the new partnership in playing a role in the stations collective positive attitude towards a losing team whose top prospect this year couldn't hit his weight

WCUB posters being printed right now...and their top prospect is in the minors.

No, GD, he was sucking Theo's dick before the Cubs went to WBBM.

But it's more than that. It's about all his "Wang Whippings" of Chicago media guys for what they say or write. Why not invite them on the show. Why doesn't the producer do so? Hell, It's obvious to book these enemies if you're the producer.

Drinky: Porn, like I said. That's my five hour shift. Don't care about anything else.

But it was followed by an equally vociferous defense by sir in the next show.

That's one of my main gripes with Bernstein - ok, the main one.

He's a pussy plain and simple. It's like a guy who played pro or D1 college ball going and playing a pick up game with 8th graders.

Anyone can beat morons. He famously called Boozer a bumslayer. That's precisely what Bernstein is - a bumslayer. Him and his wannabe let through only the mouth breathers who can't put a sentence together. While it makes for entertaining radio, it's intellectually dishonest and frankly, diminishes any argument he makes. A person who is THAT resolute in their stances and willing to air them daily should be able to stand up the most critical and vociferous debate.

He doesn't. Case in point - I've texted in random texts on random topics. I've had many read on the air. Whenever I text in discounting something Bernstein said, it's ignored. I doubt that's not done on purpose.

sorry to get all SHARK on ya, but uh, spyder..... the famous bumslaying thing was actually jason goff using the term for tyrus thomas, who he and dan seemed to picture playing basketball shirtless in full jeans for some reason. the raison d'etre was that if tyrus thomas was against a bum (read: white guy) he could put up like 16/8 or something, but if you actually guarded him well that's when tyrus fancied himself a distance shooter and yeah 3pts 4rbs and 5 fouls ensue.

so maybe at a later date bernstein DID in fact use the bumslayer term for boozer and you're not wrong, but when you're talking about THE FAMOUS B&B BUMSLAYER COMMENT, dude, it's tyrus thomas and i swear to god it was jason goff who first introduced us to the term.

This. The part that is just hate listen/car crash staring bad for me now about Berns is just how unwilling he is to engage people who might be peers (or even sharper than he is), and then he turns around and spends hours and hours lamenting how stupid people are. A great combo platter of pretension, sophistry, and mendacity, every day 1-6.

YOu are right Sini. I remember it well. They also talked about making a bumslayer poster for Thomas that was a parody of the Iceman poster of Gervin.

Dan realizes in his certain social circles he runs into Theo and it's cool to be buddies with the GM of the Cubs, especially for such a big Cubs fan like Dan.

"Buddies" is having beverages or knoshing from the same small plate of appetizers, or having him come on your sports talk show. "Houseboy" is when he walks up and opens with, "they're idiots for not getting your plan--whatever iteration its on" and then follow with, "Shrimp puff? They're reelly good."

...and Theo takes the whole plate and walks away.

I think Dan lives in Lakeview (or is it Roscoe Village)?

Maybe he see Theo in the hood at Starbucks or 'the gym'. Epstein live on Addison and Greenville (right around the corner from Sharpie who he screwed on the property buy).

I grew up in that area (Addison and Ravenswood) so would have been cool to see Sharpie and his babe wife in the hood, but not Bernstein.

Greenview ...........and Danny lives west of Western, if you want to call that Roscoe Village, you should be a Real Estate broker...and I meant seeing each other at a charity event, etc. I know they have friends/associates in common, both know guys I went to HS with and I am sure he is very aware of the paths crossing. I still dont think it is the main reason why he sucks up, but he does like to jump on the 'Smart guy" wagon...and there is a big part that the money train might be coming down the track in the form of WCUB.

This is big. Dan can't allow himself to be in opposition to anyone who's as agreed to be smart as Theo is. That might make him dumb.

That's what is so strange though... Sadly, the odds are that Theo wont win a WS here in Chicago. Dan could have been pointing out the flaws and waiting for the GOTCHA moment. That would make him look smarter than Theo.

Though I had no interest in the Iceman I had this poster in my room from age 10-17. At age 12 I procured a chinese throwing star and used to take the Iceman down, throw the star into the wall and cover the holes back up with the Iceman.

Didn't he replace Jordan at SG the year Jordan broke his ankle? I think that was one of his last years.

Yeah - brain farted - not sure why I typed Greenville. Hell, ex-girlfriend used to live right across the street from Guthries.

I grew up at Addison and Ravenswood and went to Gordon so I remember when the whole 'Roscoe Village' thing was emerging. That area (say Addison to Belmont and Western as far West as Kimball) in the 80's was pretty much where all my Mexican friends from school lived. There wasn't a lot of English spoken in those homes and for whatever reason, my best friend's mother used to call me 'diablo'.

I miss those days - that ASS - Addison Snack Shop on the NW corner of Addison and California. Man Jo Vins on California. All that shit. But not the sickly sweet smell of that candy flavoring factory as we jogged to Horner Park for football practice. Candy flavoring meant you spent 80% of practice swatting friggin' bees.
