Post subject:  1/27: the bears don't want briggs

holy crap does dan love the word "analogous" or what? he's now saying that the briggs situation is analogous to the marshall situation in that ownership doesn't want him but it's ultimately up to andy pace and the superfriends-of-coaching to decide his fate (aka the cop out so he can say he was always right about marshall even if he's on the roster for opening day)

he's saying that ownership thinks briggs and peanut were working against the big picture.... is it that they're trestman guys or that they weren't trestman guys? he doesn't want to paint this as "malicious" or say they're "lockerroom issues" in any ways nor do briggs/peanut mean ill, but they might have been counterproductive in the big picture. "it made things difficult to have people so obviously not on the reservation with you" --- so aha they undermined trestman in the spirit of the old establishment. c'est la vie.

ANDY PACE IS THAT DUDE. HE'S A CLEAN DESK GUY. NO DRAMA. HE'S A BOSS!

tune in to get told what to think, how to think it, and of course how to communicate it. ask laurence: dan's already in your head, so give in and pay your radio fealty to the greatest host in the history of hosting because HE NEVER ESCAPES YOUR HEAD.

Pat certainly shot down Dan today. That was fun. Dan backed down, noticeably so.

aaaaand spiegel's off to eat! file that one under "surprising developments"

petty joking aside, yeah CoF, spill the deets because i've been half-in half out as i meander around here making the thread and whatnot. i must have missed the part where A 16 YEAR VETERAN OF THE BEARS earned his due respect up against the sanctimonious man/myth/legend we know simply as "the stain"

NSJC kept trying to paint Briggs as an awful locker room cancer, and bringing Mannelly into the discussion assuming he will agree with him and Pat just kept shooting it down "Nope", "Nope", "Nope".

You can tell he really wants to slug him.

The longer Mannelly is there, the more often I think that will happen. He is at least Dan's equal intellectually, he seems to keep his cool, and is clearly his superior physically.

A Matt Abbatacola update is like being dragged to your friend's improv show, and also, the improv show is in Kearney, Nebraska.

This is inside news? I wrote this weeks ago.

and it isn't analogous because briggs is no longer under contract, is in his mid 30s and has underperformed for over 2 years

I don't find Mannelly very interesting. He would make a nice neighbor I'm sure.

Hey Patrick! Can I borrow your extension ladder?
Sure, Hatch, c'mon over.

Well, I'm not sure about that one but I find it funny that Dan could really never say anything disparaging about his
education since they both went to the same school.

the kids nowadays could refer to him as an "edgelord" and not be wrong. i can picture him making a little aggro face when he's making his rapier-witty remarks kind of like he's trying to force out a rather large nugget of shit first thing in the morning.

dan "doesn't need the DNA" of the old defensive establishment via urlacher/briggs/etc. i wonder how many women throughout his life have shot him down claiming that they "don't need the DNA"

As Dan has backed up on the "Marshall being definitely gone" he HAS NOW SAID....."IF Marshall stays there is NO WAY he does the Showtime gig".....as I will never watch anyway...I will laugh my ass off if he is while a member of the beloved.

THIS WAS NICE BEFORE ONE TURNS STATION OFF.

So the problems in the Bears system last year was Cutler, Marshall, Briggs and now Tillman!

Not really problems, but I think the word 'Distant" and "not on the same island" is about as deifnitive as Dan could be without the guy who is friends with briggs and peanut telling him he is wrong.

Yaawnnnnnn. hey, they got me listening to Tranny, which I bet some radio stat guy projects out to 3 hours of listening. lol

When will the bullshit stop? Now Dan says he received texts from a former equipment guy, who told him how you would deflate the balls in 90 seconds. Then he says, he's not going to say the guys name, but it's a reliable guy. Hard for me to believe this, when you bring it up almost 3 hours into your show.
