A lot of you seem to think that Bernstein is in trouble for his likely true reporting on the matters with the Hawks. So, what do you think happens to him? Is he fired? Is he suspended? Is he sued?

I say pretty much nothing happens and by Monday this is all just a big joke on the show if it isn't already. At worst, he gets less free stuff from the Hawks while Sharp is there but I think he'll live. The Hawks can't really do much to Bernstein because he is still the driving force behind the biggest radio show around right now. He also likely got the "inside information" from a source within Hawks management because that seems to be the common theme.

Just remember, yesterday, even with all of this stuff, Dan basically said "Sue me and be embarrassed".

Anyways, what is your prediction? Anyone willing to say that anything actually happens to Dan besides temporary loss of some free tickets?

Fewer favors from the Blackhawks, zero repercussions from CBS.

Shunned by professional journalists and athletes alike. The butt of most jokes about the industry from his peers. Considered a bigger ass by people who don't listen/like him. Some guests will re-consider their professional association with him. His son will likely get a thicker skin.

I generally find you to be one of the more level headed posters here. I think you're way off on this one.

Especially when it comes out that some of the stuff is true.

We all have out thoughts and some of us may be hoping that some isn't true but you seem very convinced.

Exactly. When all this stuff comes out as true, the stick-lickers in the Chicago media who circled the wagons around the organization will look foolish. KC Johnson 2.0

Sharp's philandering rumors aren't new. Not all of them are true but some definitely are.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. I am pretty convinced that these rumors did not pop out of nowhere. I am not saying everything alleged is true, but it's a good bet that a lot of it is.

I would be shocked if this whole story (including the stuff about last year) was made up out of thin air

Why do you think it's likely true? Bernstein continually makes shit up.

isn't his show the highest rated sports talker? why would he give two craps what his "peers" think, he's been doing this successfully for way longer than most of them anyway

that i can agree with

B&B burned the athlete bridge years ago, and somehow i dont see matt miller or matt bowen changing allegiences.... B&B's guest list is always pretty terrible compared to other shows

Maybe, but if you think the Blackhawks are using him as a mouthpiece the way the Bears and Bulls do, you're wrong. The Blackhawks under McDonough have gone to absurd lengths to market the players as good kids and family men. Why would they sabotage that, especially when it comes to dropping Sharp's trade value at a time when he has to go? Unlike GarPax getting Dan to drop "you should be lucky you even HAVE a job!" on Tom Thibodeau, there's no way McD is giving "Sharp drove a man to suicide and no team wants his shit" his imprimatur.

By the same token, why do you think it's false? Hockey players continually cheat on their wives and fuck their teammates' wives.

He completely fabricates stuff like this?

Making up a source is one thing, this would be a bit more than that

Dan didn't really hint at some of the worst details of this. Dan even said he had no knowledge of a locker room fight.

If this was causing some strife in the locker room there would be a benefit to it being at least somewhat in the public. The problem is that there are so many rumors that it has blown up bigger than expected.

Dan didn't really go to the truly salacious stuff that then came out.

I think it's about as big as hockey, unless he's alluding to the suicide. He probably wouldn't take that tone with the moral standing of a local weatherlady.

A lot of the rumors are bigger than hockey. Clubhouse fight. Sleeping with teammates wives. Sharp threatening to sue.
