That last Yawney game would have been right before they picked up Peter Bondra for one last round of meaningless stat-padding. That was a strange year to get back on board with the Blackhawks. Those first two seasons out of the lockout were just weird across the board, as a matter of fact; sort of a lost generation of the NHL. Crosby and Ovechkin had yet to come of age, but the lockout shed off a lot of old familiar names, so the personnel was kind of up in the air. Your league superstars were guys like Daniel Briere. Penalties for brushing up against guys, the NHL on the Outdoor Life Network, Southeast Division Champion Atlanta Thrashers starring Marian Hossa and Dany Heatley, people caring a great deal about Scott Niedermayer...it was just so weird. |

I remember the Hawks being considered a sleeper team after going cuckoo in free agency. LaPointe, Khabi and Aucoin. stupid aucoin. such a spaz |

Didn't they make a big deal out of signing Matt Barnaby? Oh, and my mistake, the 2007 Thrashers would have been Hossa and Ilya Kovalchuk, of course, Dany Heatley having been traded to the Senators for Hossa after getting drunk and killing a guy. Marian Hossa's best statistical seasons were wasted on the fucking Atlanta Thrashers. What a time to be alive. |

What I learned today: after the Cubs win the World Series within the next 5 years Theo is going to move on to champion a different industry because he will be bored with baseball. |

Boris Mironov got a raw deal here in Chicago, the guy was never given a chance to show what he could do. Alexander Karpotsov, if only they'd gotten him a few years sooner also. |

During "Who's Your Guy?" yesterday term "buzz the flats" came up when reading about the attributes of (I think) a safety. Is there someone whose sole job is to come up with a handful of new terms like this every year? |
