Ok, so one crazy guy is hate-listening. Still, if the board is a barometer, B&B isn't doing so well. It's probably not a barometer though.

Only so much hate-listening can be handled these days.

I put B&B on when I got in the car, to hear Dan talking about the guy who got eaten by an alligator, and tales of fireworks mishaps. Good stuff. Wacky B&B is entertaining. Danny proceeded to talk about the Dead, which must have woken Terry up, because he started muttering a bunch of crap about the Dead. He called them creeps for playing a show after Jerry died. TB Diddler and his partner, who can't stop being creepy on Twitter, think the Dead are creepy. Sure thing, guys. #MonetizeEverything?

Heard CoF call about Lester. These two knuckleheads rip every baseball GM for giving long term deals to players who are 30 or older, especially pitchers. Of course, since it's Theo, Lester was a good move, and so will be the long term deal inevitably given to David Price, who will also be 30 when next season starts. Then Terry called Joe Maddon "the best manager that is alive", and that was it for me. Tampa won 77 games last year, with the greatest living manager, and David Price for the first half, but somehow are 43-41 this year, with Moore, Odorizzi, Cobb, and Smyly all missing significant time with injuries, and one of the worst lineups in baseball.

PTFB.

And here is the LGBT politics segment. And all families must believe and support the same things in lock step?

I just caught the end. Who's against gay marriage in the Ricketts family? The old man? Even though his daughter is gay.

The Ricketts Family Trust. The Koch Brothers. Gov. Scott Walker's presidential candidacy.

Bernstein is suddenly aware that sukking corporate Koch means loving the new product on the field, and their possible presidential preference. His understanding of big money families is shattered with the concept that a daughter can have her daddy's love and some of his money, but not her values nor his public endorsement.

Terry goes from muttering about junking the Wrigley center field scoreboard, a concept that is cornerstone of the value of the field (think: Landmark, preservation, tax avoidance, and a plethora of legal covenants), into trying to explain how and why somebody's thinking in the aforementioned equation is out of touch, or on the wrong side of whatever. Danny left Terry to have at least 90 seconds of airtime in which it was he could do to say something coherrent going into the break.

And thus giving props to JORR for whatever Terry translation he gives, sober or otherwise.

You know why Laura is not gonna get made at Dad for not supporting her right to marry her gay girlfriend?

Because Laura wants that trust fund. That's why. If she yells at him, he sees the lawyer to take it away. So she's gonna keep her mouth shut.

Then again, maybe Dad is already mad at the daughter for being gay and she's not getting any money.

Does she own any % of the Cubs or is it all Tom?

Yeah, B&B can sometimes go overboard in pointing out Les's foibles, but that was something. "Rest and Records"? "Rings per second"?

I don't know how you could be Les's age and now know what "R&R" means.

He should've went with Records and Research. Bob Andrews of the 3 investigators fame. Popular when he was a youth .

Aren't vinyl records RPM rather than RPS anyway?

Full disclosure: listened to much of the first two hours on podcast and the Les bits were great, as was stories of fourth of July mishaps. Heck it was basically as long as 'second hand news'. Bring back 'second hand news'!

The Cubs talk was meh. I really don't give a shit what Danny hears ('I'm telling you what's happening'). Have an actual reporter about it to discuss then if you want to talk about trade rumors.

Les worked a 7 hour shift yesterday. His shift is the heaviest lifting of all the shifts at the Score. If he starts to babble in the 4 am hour, I would cut him a break.

Wasn't Joe Maddon simply spectacular on the 4th when he took out a pitcher up 5 runs and nobody on with 1 out in the 9th?

Notice, they never point to anything on the field, yet at the same time they do not believe in intangibles.

See, that's the thing about managers. When I say that they don't matter it's not that one isn't better than another in a particular situation, it's that it's all just intangibles. Sure, I prefer Maddon to Ventura. He doesn't sacrifice much. But the thing that has caused Maddon to be viewed as "better" than Ventura is that he has managed better players.

Somebody should call, and ask them why giving long term deals to players on the wrong side of 30 is the wrong thing to do, except in the case of Lester and Price.

That'll be a call at the wrong side of their hour heading into an extended commercial break that they'll feign not hearing/understanding at first and then needing to go into the break.

Thanks for the call.
