The answer as to why the plan and Bryant may fail is that umpires must be replaced. It is all low strikes and framing that will doom the Cubs.

I know it's a joke but Terry obviously thinks it's fine...the strike zone that is.

My take was Terry was ok and maybe Bryant should do what Trout does to get by if he is that good. Bernsie says it isn't fair to Bryant then he adds or anyone else. The Sox fan has completely left the home ship.

Wait. Bernstein hates Hawk for always blaming the umps. Now Bernstein is blaming the umps for the Cubs?

I'm sure Dan would say that Hawk is complaining about strikes that are real strikes according to K zone.

I feel like this is a show that isnt even on anymore...just the notion that tranny is about to happen now makes me turn off the Score, if I am listening at that point as some of thr latest best hits of Goff are getting really Leary like. Nonsense that he tries to make into radio.....not a good path

It was one thing when Terry didn't give a shit but Dan carried the show. Now neither one gives a shit.

Bernstein is into more and more Francesa like screaming. Outrage about how stupid everyone else is. No one can see his simple points.

The funny part is Terry really could give a flying fuck. Just keep sending the paychecks.

Yes, that appears to be the new narrative going forward. Bryant, Soler, et al are struggling because the umps are calling "unhittable" pitches as strikes.

The only thing worse than hearing Bernsie Slobber all over Joe Sheehan is hearing Ten Foot Midget Slobber all over Bernsie.... good god that was awful.

Are they really saying this? My God! Maybe Gordon Beckham is really Babe Ruth and we just don't know it because of the strikes they call on him.

This might be the dumbest show in the city, sports or otherwise.

Bernsie was screaming about framing yesterday.

There are stats for this. Umps are stupid. They cant see the low strike so they just guess. Montero is worth two wins a year just from his excellent framing. There are stats for this.

So it's great when the Cubs sign a free agent like Legendary Pitch Framer Miguel Montero to game the system, but when some other catcher is framing Jorge Soler right out of the big leagues it's a travesty? Who ya crappin'?

framing: another one of those purely subjective stats that somehow get laundered into objective data

I remember hearing John Dewaan during the pre season. I seem to recall that he said that Flowers and Montero were nearly equal in framing but neither was remarkable.

lil danny read the top 10 catchers in pitch framing then asked what they all have in common. My guess was they catch for pitching staffs who throw a lot of strikes. That was obviously the wrong answer.

Poor Kris Bryant doesn't know where the low side strike zone is because of this framing.

Maybe he should ask a good hitter how to survive at this level.

A caller called in to counter that it can be offset trying to analyze this by the great players. For every great framer you have had a Frank Thomas, Boggs or some other guys that umps gave the benefit of the doubt to. Oh Frank didn't swing at that? Must be a ball.
