From yesterday afternoon's interview with Jim Souhan. The last question Terry posed to Jim is as follows:
Quote:
Yeah-and-I-I-mem-remember fans wearing the jerseys that next Sunday I mean (yeah) it wasn't really like-it-wa, like you say there's a minority -i-i-it really is kinda, you know, there's a lot of different people have different thoughts about all of this and, you know, d-despite what we think or what we think is right, man there's always somebody that thinks you're wrong and thinks you're crazy and goes, "wait are you talking about Jim, th-wh-whaduya mean, this is fine," so I mean I -I-I guess, I-I look at it and I say "ok," I mean I-I-I kinda expected it in the NFL, I mean I-I, we see enough of it to go "ok," or athletes in general we say "uh, ok," I mean, we move on ?

In my limited listening I've becoming convinced that Boers has a real medical problem. I'm not a doctor but I watched a loved one go through boughts of Aphasia due to other medical problems.

AWESOME

I used to enjoy seeing how long I could listen to Terry go on without knowing what the subject was. Sometimes he'd go over a fucking minute

That's a great example. Who knows what the fuck he's talking about there?

I mean, there's just a ton of rambling and then he ends by basically saying that you just move on. If I were Jim, I'd have just said, "yeah, you just have to move on, he's on the team."

No but even when he has a point, he just never remembers that its a radio show and people may have not been listening

He'll go on referring to it as "this thing" or "that guy" and never reveal who or what the hell he's talking about.

why cant score hosts ask a question concisely? they know the guest is coming on, cant one of their 4 producers write a list of questions for them?

Preparation is work. The Score's culture, such as it is, is that work is to be avoided at all costs. If anything more than the bare minimum is done, it's considered a failed day.

Has Terry ever annunciated his retirement date? He alludes to his time being short (professionally) very often

He's hinted many times that he's done after this next Super Bowl.

Why the Super Bowl?

They will undoubtedly have a month of terry at the station. I would bet it would be February during the sports dead period. Then he will walk away before he is tortured by March Madness.

One last hurrah, I guess? He's said repeatedly that he wants everyone to go to the Superb Owl next year. In SF, I think. I agree with you. If not there, then shortly thereafter.

So that douche is trying to get the station to pay for everyone to come to his retirement party in another city?

I'm glad to see he isn't pretending to have any affection for the fans

While Terry is an incessant rambler (and may have driven one at some point) he articulated his thoughts on Jim Rose very well today. Rose does not get the roasting he deserves in the media for being a professional boob. I was glad to hear Boers spend a few minutes slamming him.

He's hinted at it a lot for over a year now. Old man Boers will be retired in February. I don't know why the son of a bitch just doesn't say it. Cuz he has said it his typical cryptic, innuendo tone.

It's his way of begging for fan fair while acting like he doesn't want fan fair.

He's basically said the trip to the San Francisco Super Bowl in February is the end. That was like 6 or 7 months ago. Then I heard another cryptic discussion, recently, where they were saying Mitch and Zim don't want to pay for them to go to the Super Bowl. While that was the initial plan, things have changed. Maybe money is tight at CBS radio now as we just learned they layed off 200 people.

Either way, Super Bowl remote or not, Terry is clearly done this winter.

Let the politicking for his job begin!!!!

Drinky: It's mine, motherfuckers!!!! Woooooo hoooooooo!!!

Zim & Mitch:

Drinky: :(

yeah i seem to remember years ago that b&b went to the super bowl every year and did their extra-special guest/shill-extensive remotes from radio row for like ~3-4 days leading up to the super bowl..... but then it stopped.

nowadays IIRC it seems like mully and hanley get to go to vegas once a year for something and then out of all the other shows one of them gets to do one trip/remote (like that thing a few years ago where jameson sent 'em out to ireland to tour the brewery with amattacola or something..... or wait was it just boston? but still holy shit you wanna talk about prizes, man, i'll gladly foot the bill out to ireland/boston/wherever for not just me but ALSO amattacola if that wunderkind/"it-boy" will tour the brewery with me!!! *swoon*)

....but other than that one token/heavily-sponsored trip-warranting remote it seems like the general consensus is to keep everybody @ prudential plaza cuz that's the center of the chicago sports universe! duh! voice of the fan!

Well, B&B get about 48 remotes a year, they're just all at bars in Mount Greenwood.

ha.... touche, but of course i meant proper "jump on an airplane and stay in a hotel for a few days" remotes. hell, with the much-ballyhooed "who needs two?" tavern tour even that is sponsored out the wazoo..... i've been to like 1-2 of those over the years (RIP to my trusty WN2?TT orange mug that began its life filled with score swag and finished its life filled with mold/pee/piss/something. simba or elton john can tell you what that's all about) and i seem to remember some beer company logo plastered all over the wallpapers alongside the 670 THE SCORE logos, so i doubt they're paying all that much (if anything at all) to get 'em out at the latest-n-greatest SW suburban bar-n-grill joint.
