i hate this shit right here. it reminds me of how back in the day when i was at best buy looking for the aphex twin CDs (usually right in front of fiona apple) i couldn't find them, so i asked someone working there and he's like "OH THAT'S IN THE ELECTRONICA SECTION.... YEAH ALL THAT STUFF IS CALLED ELECTRONICA NOW" and i took note of how robert miles' "children" was playing over the best buy PA system and i had one of those "we're not in kansas anymore, toto" moments. it ended up being the same thing a year or two later when i was informed that the aphex-twin-style/derivative music i had been listening to for years was now called IDM (intelligent dance music) and i should update my rolodex accordingly. i'm sure there's some latin/sounding term to describe a type of fallacy where stuff is essentially retconned, but i dont know what it is off the top of my head.

and that's the same thing that's going on here. even tho i grew up a certain way with a pretty darn good set of values i'm now being told that when i grew up i was taught that women were playthings/objects/etc because that's what the loud/insistent/etc people are saying right now to suit their agenda and bring about whatever change/s they want. and by and large people like rozner buy into it because when it comes to something universally acceptible (i.e. "you shouldn't hate/discriminate-against women") nobody's going to want to be on the wrong side of that so they try to accomodate these retconning maniacs and the result is some tacit agreement that we all grew up thinking women were playthings. fuck that!

Not to mention, for years, Bernstein declared "Boobie season". I think he stopped doing it after his troubles. That doesn't mean he stopped believing women are toys to him. Still, Rozner should be told that Bernstein is a part of that "Culture". He actually knows, though. But Rozner wants to be Bernstein's partner once Terry retires. So he can't call him out.

I agree except those Japanese "herbivores" may have found a way. That is one of the oddest developments of our time.

I guess I dont take it as high and mighty. Maybe it came off that way, i didnt hear it. But what he's saying is pretty much accurate, right?

I guess I don't see it as a problem unless you believe that an overwhelming number of men believe that the sole value of women is simply for sex. Of course there are knuckleheads that do.

But I don't believe bernstein, for example, believes that, in spite of his admiration for a huge set of jugs. But it did come off that way if you were looking to be offended. My approach is to assume one of two things: 1) He's an asshole who thinks of women as objects and so what, there's not a damn thing I can do about it; or 2) He was just making a dumb joke, he's a hetero man who appreciates a woman our culture has taught him is "hot", and it has nothing to do with his respect for a woman's intellect or other capablities. Personally, I think the answer is two as it probably is for most of us.

Looks are more important to men in judging women then the reverse. At least that's what it seems like to me.


Let's not pretend it's anywhere close to equal. Men are not objectified on near the level women are.

I don't think Bernstein is good with people or any type of relationship. He doesn't seem to have much interest in women, unfortunately I'd bet a number of men find him to be too dorky to hang out with. He doesn't value anybody that doesn't share the same opinions as him and most of those people are weirdos anyway.

I value men based on how hot they are, how funny they are, if they are a good person, and how good they are to me. My husband is/was different and probably too good for me.

Men sexually objectify women where as women objectify men in other ways. Money, social status, protector, etc.

That was a good time in Electroic music when they moved everything into its own section. Was a lot easier to find what I was listening to at the time. Then again you had to hope that they were correctly labeling electronic music, then you had to go back in the other sections and hope to find it. We've learned a great deal today. It's been quite the education, and it's only 3:30.

1.) I am told that I should wait for all the facts. But despite a near complete absence of sufficient facts, it's reasonable to already conclude that one will never view Patrick Kane the same way again.
2.) That a major newspaper should not "slut shame". And by slut shame, I mean....seek to tell a story, paint a complete picture, or provide quotes from eyewitnesses who saw a subject hours before an alleged crime took place. That is, unless the printed words meet the legal criteria for being evidentiary. As always, the world revolves around lawyers. All lawyers are really smart people.
3.) Barry Rozner is going to undertake an exhaustive grassroots eradication of John Mayer.
