Was surprised to hear Terry flat out say he didn't watch the game yesterday. I mean, it has always been obvious from his "analysis" that he doesn't watch the games, but usually he at least makes an effort to act like he pays attention.

 Bernsie puts Terry on the spot not knowing any QB's from his youth hanging on at the end.

he's said for some time he doesn't care for the NFL and won't watch any games when he's done. Guess he started early.

easy target i must admit. he just peddles whatever narrative dan advances while trying to sound like he's coming up with original thoughts.

It bums me out to hear old audio of Terry. He's so exhausted and rotten these days. His writing still has a bit of pop and sizzle and occasionally he'll drop a pretty funny one-liner, but for the whole show he mostly is tired.

I'm not sure how one can tire from logging into your bank account every pay period to confirm you've been paid for doing jack shit.

Bernstein's imitation/parody of John Fox is spot on and funny. See, I can give The Stein a compliment.

But he still goes on to talk about the game as if he did.

Danny: Sam Acho outplayed Allen anyway

Terry: Yep, yeah he did

Terry Boers was the best sports personality on the score. He the reason that I listened in the early years. I liked his columns when he wrote for the Sun-Times. His stuff when he guest hosted with Coppock was always good. Their stuff on the loop was better than the heavy fuel crew but it was a much smaller sample size. I also liked him in the sports reporters. He was a genuinely funny dude that really seemed like he'd had an interesting life.

Working with Bernstein has really sapped the guys spirit. Where he used to be amused by sports, he now hates it. He was the king of criticizing guys for never having an original thought. Now he is the guy that never has an original thought. His work with McNeil was very good. Neither has really been the same since the breakup, imo. They have both enjoyed success ratings wise, but the quality of their performances has really suffered. Never was a big fan of MJH, though it wasn't a terrible show. I'd listen to B&B, but it has been a number of yrs since I've listened on a regular basis.

Once they began making it their job to kill the enjoyment that a person gets from sports viewing, I stopped listening. It's too predictable at this point.

It's mutually sad that Dan has dissolved so quickly and tragically into the monster he never should've become. He hasn't enjoyed sports for years now that isn't top-tier NBA basketball, and covering sports for what he views as the small market of Chicago he put beneath him years ago. What insults me most is that he's breathing rare air for the radio industry, but spends all of his working life moldering over how he is so much better than his station. It's one thing to mock the brazenly stupid callers; it is another to loathe yourself for not escaping the cruel bonds of stifled ambition.

His misery is intensely disappointing to listen to, because along with Terry I enjoyed the hell out of Dan's earlier career. It's just a shame that fun can no longer be fun, and until forevermore our afternoons are a constant wake for an apparently dead sports city undeserving of the most unhappy radio personalities to grace a hot mic.

He has to listen to Dan and pretend to agree with him for 30 hours a week. That is pretty damn tiring.

No one is forcing the ghost of Terry Boers to do anything. He's dead weight on a volunteer basis: Bernstein is an arrogant, sanctimonious prick to be sure, but I don't see how that excuses Terry for mailing it in everyday. These seem to be issues that are independent from one another. It's embarrassing - he adds nothing to the.conversation.

Terry does it because he can ISDN 3 or 4 days a week. I'd make a joke about him phoning it in, but that is literally what he is doing.
