I've noticed today that Dan's mike is quite terrible. I assume they're live. Terry's mike is just fine.

Both are on record saying today is a crapshoot. Both will be on record tomorrow as saying they saw whatever happens coming.

There's something wrong with you if you aren't enjoying this Cubs team. What if you're not actually a Cubs fan? Do I still have to enjoy it?

Also, don't forget to quietly reflect should the Cubs be victorious tonight. This was all part of The Plan and should not come as a surprise.

Yes.

Hell no.

I'm gonna scream. And shout.

I may even perhaps let it all out.

What I find amazing is the actual lack of excitement in this show thread. It warms my heart.

Denis waiting for a bus here saw a guy in pirates shirt with a buddy in a Cubs shirt. Oh well. :(

You bet your ass I will be wearing my Willie Stargell shirsey when I get home from my meeting tonight.

Dan should have got it over with a long time ago and declared his Cub fandom.

Why didn't you say that when you called.

I'm sure he'd say, especially now, that he's happy for the Cubs winning as it means more money for his bosses.

I've already said it to him previously and it had nothing to do with my call....

I was so close to pulling the trigger. I was on business trips the past two weeks, so I have been out a lot. I had enough miles for the flight and hotel. The tickets would have been about $200/each. However, we didn't know until late Sunday whether the game would be in Pittsburgh. I still almost pulled the trigger on Monday.

I really wish I was there!

"Cub fans, don't 'Cub them'"?

FU. Cub fans have more right to be excited about success than any other team in baseball.

When I was at Game 2 of the NLCS in 2003, it was the most electric environment I'd ever been in...and the game hadn't even started. There was a literal buzz in the air. Never heard anything like it before or since.

Cub fans can't act like they've been there before because they haven't.

I agree with you.

BTW, I watched the Chicago Wolves clinch their last Cup.
Does that count for anything?

It is a crapshoot, although I'd rather be on the side of Jake Arrieta. It's amazing how well he has pitched (and continues too).

While writers with principles rail against the DraftKings/FanDuel bullshit, Señor Columnist comes to the defense of "smart money involved" and a prominent 670 sponsor.

And defending the sports equivalent of insider trading makes you Captain Courageous?

It's about the same level of greatness as watching a championship horse take a good Sunday shit.

I was going to say "that's amazing," but really it's about as amazing as the sun coming up.

It’s not just the ads, either. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Patriots owner Robert Kraft also have stakes in DraftKings, and the company is officially partnered with the NFL Players Association for licensed marketing. It’s legal and valuable and taking off like a rocket, so plenty of smart money is involved.

Yes, more opportunities to gamble has never blighted a financially strapped city. Just look at that blooming metropolis in Northwestern Indiana!

I forgot you were at game 2 as well. I remember walking west down Addison after the game and high fiving all the people in their cards. Nobody was going anywhere for a while. What a feeling of euphoria that was...but it makes me more guarded now, not excitable.

I am a gambling fan as a loyal patron of Las Vegas.

However, whenever I am in a convenience store it seems like the folks buying lottery tickets are the ones least able to do so. In addition, casinos seems littered with dejected people who appear to have lost their monthly social security check. Thus (IMHO) gambling is largely a tax on the poor.
