On today’s show, the boys will discuss the Cubs abysmal appearance in New York over the weekend, and what it means for the future of the Cubs franchise. I think even the most loyal Theo supporters had to be disturbed at the direction of the franchise after this weekend. On a side note, with the terrorism NYC has experienced in the past, it was good to see the Mets win a few games to help heal that city.

Also, the Bears will be discussed with Matt Bowen and, if he gets his talking points from Halas Hall in time, Zach Zaidman.

I'm sure we may hear the tired old bullshit about how the Cubs aren't "built for the postseason".

you might hear the latter. Highly unlikely you hear the former. I haven't heard them say that.

They'll tell you that with a couple proper acquisitions this team will be better next season.

Bernstein has said in the past that the playoffs are pretty much just random.

That did go away when the Cubs looked to be unstoppable though, but I'm guessing the "clutch factor" of Rizzo won't be brought up either.

They're a full year ahead of their plan. They didn't even expect to be in this position until 2016. THEY TOLD YOU THIS!!!!!! WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?!?!?

I do, but I guess I misunderstood which one was the latter since you were quoting my post. My bad.

Bernstein: They lost 2 games. So what? It's baseball. And if they lose the series, so what? Get over it. All Theo can do is build a team that gets to the playoffs year in and year out. Just get as many spins at the wheel as possible. That's all he can do. Once the playoffs start, it's all random. My God, Terry, did you hear about the reaction from Cubs fans on twitter?

Boers: Oh yeah. I heard about it.

Bernstein: I want them to die. Every last one of these stupid Cubs fans.

Boers: Yep. They will die. I promise you.

don't worry, you're still my friend.

Trying to figure out how you got a former and a latter out of one thought. It appears you think my IQ is even lower than I thought.

There's some cognitive dissonance there though. If the playoffs are really random, they have to be wrong. Their chances this year are as good as their chances will be in any future year(s). Although, I suppose their spin will be that making the playoffs is fait accompli every year for the forseeable future thus leading to the "bites at the apple" bullshit.

now, see that one's funny...they were saying that back in 2012. That was why I was pulling for the Astros.

The only call that would carry some weight would be to point out the Mets building with pitching then offense. Doubt they have a good response for that. Other than playoff randomness.

if it's not fait accompli, it's time to fire everyone. It should be just that.

Because I read my post first, and then JORR's post after that, when you replied to me.

y'know, I have to give Matty props. In 07 after the D-Backs won the first game, he said the Cubs were done and had a huge argument with Dan about it. And Dan ended up looking like a doofus. I was with Matty every step on that argument.

if he takes that tact instead of actually talking baseball, it'll be a rare punch of the button from me.

I assume this is sarcasm.

Playing in the NLCS shouldn't result in the fan base disturbed at the direction of the franchise.

Healing the city?

His liberal views bleed into everything; too bad, it's ruining the show. I realize that he is doing important radio, but few probably care what he thinks about Daniel Murphy.

If he hates gays that much I bet the Cubs sign him in the offseason.
