So I turn this on at 5:25 and i'm in the middle of a 4-5 min e-crap that's listing every sort of massmurder perpetrated by Christians/Catholics then some rah rah rah if you're a religion of peace and love wont you take in these refugees?

Ted Cruz, I wish we didn't take in refugees back in the day so your dad woulda died in Cuba and you'd never be born.

Soooo yeah, is it just me or are partisian craps supposed to be not allowed? Or is it a matter of whether or not partisisn e-craps agree with dan or not? Cuz holy shit this was 4-5 mins of pro-refugee/anti-christisn propaganda punctuated with a SINCE YOU WONT TAKE IN THE REFUGEES TO SAVE THEM I WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN --- seems a bit ironic don't you think?

Wake me up when someone craps Israel for not taking in refugees =]

Yeah that was bad. But in general it has been bad. I for one think no political craps at all might give it a chance.

i haven't been able to hear this segment, but when I last heard it over the summer, it was pretty similar. Dan starts off the segment by saying no overtly partisan craps are allowed, but then every other caller calls in bashing a Republican.

They have ruined that segment (and show) with Bernstein promoting a liberal angle on pretty much any sports topic, and he doesn't have to disguise it with this segment.

I'm sure if you disagree with his position on these refugee's, you're a bigot, etc...

Too bad that the station has allowed the show to transition in this manner, and every other show pretty much isn't shy in promoting/repeating all of his liberal stances.

The last time I listened (3 weeks ago, or so) he didn't give his usual "political crap" admonishment. He basically said "political craps, eh, you know". The segment, much like the show, has become unlistenable.

they have to allow political craps now because nobody calls in to play the old ass dumb bit

theyre not cool enough to keep doing a childish show as they age. it was funny when danny was 35 but hes like pushing 50 now. grow up and stop trying to be funny and start being the crotchety old bag you are.

God love you, Sini. And I mean that in the most sincerest of forms and not without acknowledging that some of the rest of us might be considered too wordy. But with that said, isn't Israel the original refugee camp? Not to be too beligerent in my response but they are the modern day "refugees."

Dan said outright that there was room in the second bank, which I've never heard him say before. And they only took two calls in the second bank, the guy crapping Ted Cruz and the closer to the show...which means either no one had good craps (unlikely, Matty lets anyone on the air) or the more likely scenario, no one was calling in.

WYC is suffering from a lack of good callers. It has little to do with Dan. If he does away with political craps, that's just less people that actually call in.

But it's a sports show, COF. You wanna crap political leaders then take that shit to NPR or 820.

It's easy to just say Wait, Wait, Don't Crap Me! and leave the joke at that, but further examination makes you realize that the wordy little fucks in the Preferred Emailer Club would actually be a perfect fit for that show's perpetually self-impressed tenor, and you start wondering in all seriousness how no one from WBEZ has given Señor a call on some day when Tom Bodett or Paula Poundstone wakes up with laryngitis.

Given her past, I'm surprised that Paula Poundstone is part of that show. Then again, I'm not sure how Lena Dunham admits to using candy in order to bribe her sister into letting her sexually molest her, there is minimal outrage, and there is nary a blip in her career.

To the extent that they're different people (I have my doubts about a few), they're fans of Dan who want him to read their stuff out loud. You can't be surprised that all their voices would elide into one big mass of bien-pensant pseudo-liberalism.

ha, maybe that's more because the same guy is reading it?

I don't think he writes them, he just has a lot of fans who want to impress him by aping him.

i have no idea what bien-pensant means, tho i do know that bien is spanish for "good"

i choose to read it as "bien-peasant" or "good peasant" pseudo-liberalism, cuz no matter how much dan stumps for any ownership group/s or thinks that 6-7 figures elevates him to some "tweener" class between the vast swarths of peasantry out there and the "GOOD. MONIED. PEOPLE." who transcend even the GMPs who occupy the non-front-rows of the lower dish of the UC for a bulls game, dan's always going to be closer to "us" than he will be "them", the uber-wealthy that he so idolizes/worships/carries-water-for.

adjective: bien pensant

1.
right-thinking; orthodox.

noun: bien-pensant; plural noun: bien-pensants; noun: bien pensant; plural noun: bien pensants

1.
a right-thinking or orthodox person.[/code]

yeap, dan definitely has some "good liberal" thinking going on. he's truly "one of the good ones" and not one of those petulant children who thinks playing with guns to protect them from refugees is cool, eh?

The literal translation, "well-thinking," is somehow even more on point than "right-thinking." Think of Ramblin' Grimace and how he "knows good media."

This definitely is a show only suited for intellectual heavyweights like Schmutzie.

I that's a bit chicken or the egg. To me the good callers were the funny ones with goofy craps. Danny started to look down on them for not "getting the bit" so they stopped calling.

I'll disagree that callers stopped calling in because Dan was browbeating them. If they're really funny Dan stays out of the way. The bigger thing may be are there less familiar callers who get the bit and/or are funny because those people are no longer listening to the show. This show should never have been put in drive time and should have been kept in mid-days.

Hasn't Abbatacola been quick with the shotgun, too? Not that people didn't deserve it (I'm guessing there's a LOT of shit...haven't listened to WYC in a long time though) but it would be pretty discouraging to deal with that ass.

It can't help that the segment is so overtly partisan and the show has been moving in that direction for some time. It seems odd that a sports show would want to be a niche show to liberals.

When hosts (North and Bernstein) begin to think their opinion matters more than it actually does, it has resulted in them sounding like ignorant fools on the air when expanding well beyond sports.

I think they forget most people tune in to list to sports talk, not Dan's feelings on refugee's, bigotry, racism, judicial law, etc. He is a partisan. We already knows what he is going to say.
