He does a shit load of sponsor reads.

I'm just curious how this works. Do B&B get first crack at these opportunities from their show and then throw stuff they don't want to drinky to help him supplement his producers salary out of the goodness of their hearts.

Because I don't hear other producers doing sponsor reads. Spiegel and Goff grab all those opportunities. You don't hear their pollack producers doing endorsements. Same with Mully and Hanley. They don't give shit to their producers either.

Is it because drinky is the oldest producer at the station. Because of this, is this why he gets bones thrown his way? Just curious.

These are deep and timely questions, and I hope wiser posters than me express their thoughts on this interesting topic so I can benefit from the discussion as well.

WGN producers get some reads. Kristin Decker is always selling hair conditioner or something.

Anyway, wouldn't surprise me if Terry threw Matty some live reads. Dan probably wouldn't. Of course, it's not impossible that some mic-sniffer of a client would be like "I gotta have The Score's Matt Abbatacola do the read!", I mean, David Hochberg has been the afternoon show's #1 fan/sugar-daddy across two different businesses now.

When he is not being a jackass on the show Drinky does an ok read with a decent radio voice. So it does not surprise me he gets them somehow.

I don't think so. Sponsors are not asking for fuckin' drinky. But he does get a lot of reads. Especially recently. It's all about the show's worth to these sponsors obviously. They don't care who reads them. You might be right, though. It's probably Boers giving drinky part of his share. You're right. Bernstein wouldn't. Bernstein has never even bought lunch or dinner for his producers. Goff used to always cry about it. Drinky mentioned this a few days ago.

I've always found the way Terry talks to drinky to be like a father talking to a son.

What kind of car deals do these douches get? I might be way off here but I have some vague recollection of Goff mentioning on air that he was rolling (his word) in a Nissan GT-R. Can that possibly be true?

I would have to believe drinky's good fortune in getting these endorsements causes some anger from the producers of the other shows. Those producers are probably saying "Why does drinky's cracker ass get this extra money and not our cracker asses."

In fact I think that's exactly what they say to themselves, word for word.

It might have to do with it being a 5 hour show as well. I guarantee Terry's old ass needs a break during commercial spots. Although it's not like he does much but nod his head in agreement the entire time.

Could be something like that. Where Boers says, I'll let you have 25% if you just do the damn reads for me. Because these are absolutely Boers and Bernstein sponsors. Anything that comes in is theirs unless they pass it to somebody. Maybe they just throw a little to drinky and he's more than happy to take it. He should be very grateful to Boers.

It's not just the current shows. I don't think any show in the history of the SCORE threw as much to their producers as what the B&B show throws to drinky.

Most of the time Mitch sends the email to those who he might want to read it. Whoever says OK, gets it. However, they have different rates for reads and I know many of these dont want to or need to pay for the name sponsor of Dan Bernstein. If you remember when Spiegs was newly fresh faced with Mack he grabbed every read he could get. Made some good extra money.

Gotcha. So drinky is cheap for the sponsors. That makes sense.

Still doesn't explain why other producers don't get as much as drinky gets. You said Mitch sends an email out and waits for people to take it. Well, why wouldn't Shep and Zawaski say "Yes" to anything for whatever the price? They could use the extra money. Seems to me that the shows hosts get first crack. I would just guess Goff and Spiegel are cheap as well and take all of it. Where as Bernstein has a high price and won't budge off of it. Thus drinky comes in to pick up the crumbs that Bernstein drops.

Probably noy considered "On air" personalities for paygrade purposes and thus dont get the emails.

Maybe. But drinky never does shows anymore. He doesn't do updates anymore either. He's not on air talent any more than any other producer. He did "Hit and Run" but that's about it. Shep does weekend shows. Zawaski does Hawks post game for the playoffs.

It probably has something to do with tenure. Drinky is the oldest producer at the station. Plus, since they no longer let him be "talent, they probably throw endorsements his way cuz they feel bad for him. Because, like I said, he gets a lot of sponsor reads.
