Just curious... it seems like they piss people off for different reasons... To me, they clearly still have the potential to be the best show in town. I just can't stand the "smart sports fan", the "buzzwords", the "sources", the "yup, that's what I heard", the rape culture talk, and the incessant defense of ownership (I guess that's a lot). I don't want them to lose the mocking of sports or the goofiness or the mocking of callers. Those things are great (without the other shit). I don't want them to go away, though. The thought of Rosenbloom and Holmes in the afternoon is terrifying. What would you like them to drop or rediscover, or would you just like them to go away altogether? |

B&B at their best didn't take sports, or anything, very seriously, and drew most of their humor from deflating the bogus bloatedness of the sports-industrial complex. Now they seem to be as much a part of it as anyone. |

My ideal B&B are both Dan and Terry rightfully enshrined in the radio hall of fame. |

B&B at their worst is still better than anything WMVP has to offer. |

Sports fans first, smart asses 2nd....and they don't take themselves seriously. Kinda like when they had the midday show. Terry could still do it but blue apron can never return to that form. |

I liked less of the moralizing discussions and more of the having-fun-with-it discussion. Joe Paterno may have been the tipping point for me... way too much talking about Paterno and the program (believe me, I couldn't care any less if they had shut down Penn State for 10 years vs. what happened.) Then we get into moralizing judgments on Kane, moral judgments on the way Rose kept himself out of games, etc. They were at their best when they would judiciously take meatball callers and skewer them, but then it got to a point where they were clearly just trying to get meatballs on and never let sane people on -- or if they did, Bernstein would just talk over them and dismiss them. Also, the Friday Fungs were fung when they were new, but they went back to the same bits over and over and killed the life out of them. Just like the crapping. There are still moments of great humor (recently talking about Wade Boggs contracting business) but you have to sit through so much to get there, that I'd rather just go to podcasts. |

It's like trying to remember that Darth Vader was once good but......... I actually thought ODB (Old Dan Bernstein) was excellent when he was solo or on the Bears beat. (*Terry is a doddering old yes man that is a non-factor either way so whatever with him) Dan was still very good the first 5 years of B&B. The next 5 he started getting annoying and a little too good for sports talk radio. He thinks could have been the next Rachel Hayes. The last 5 years of SJWDB (he believes in about 10% of it) has been horrible and I occasionally hate listen about 15 minutes on the commute home. I actively root for bad things (not health related) to happen to this annoying little jerk. Once in a while when he's actually talking sports I remember that I liked him but then he spews crap he doesn't even believe to impress the pyramid scheme wine guy or Quad City Fat and I hope he gets caught skimming from Children Octopus Services. |

Let me see... Dan is arrogant, a faux-intellectual, a pretend athlete (until he "blew his knee out"), a hypocrite, and turns into an angry little man screaming at callers whenever the producer feeds him an idiot (no doubt at Dan's instruction). Terry is way, way past the point when he was even mediocre, thinks he's a good writer (he's not), turns his monologues into dialogues by first saying something stupid in one voice and then answering "...no, no, no" in another, makes juvenile and un-funny sexual references, continually vocalizes cretinous sounds, and will soon (if not already) be sitting in a corner somewhere in Tampa masturbating and drooling on himself. It's actually pretty entertaining from a pure hate-listening perspective. To be clear though, while I do confess to hate listening, I specifically never buy anything from any of the companies that sponsor B&B. So, contrary to the sage wisdom that Dave Baum gave little Danny many years ago, it's not always alright to have half the listeners love you and half hate you. From a purely business perspective they should both be fired and be replace with some real talent. |

But they are real talent, or were, at least. Maybe Dan has earned yet another Mike North parallel where, like North, he needs solid production and co-hosting behind him to keep him from drifting into stupid crap. Part of the magic of B&B when it was good was that there was no production, no show prep, the show went where it went and the results were priceless. Of course, that's because we don't quite remember the bad days, the ones where having no structure just led to stultifying NBA minutiae. What do you do when the bad days start doubling up or tripling up the good days? What do you do when there are hardly any good days at all? I don't advocate going to some over-produced nonsense, because B&B was always about making fun of that, but someone needs to devise some sort of escape hatch for the ever-increasing times when Dan is being alienating and self-indulgent. |

Give me the guys who I was listening to 10 years ago on the shitty AM radio I built in school. That was a fun show. |

Talking about sports and leaving the SJW shit to Tumblr. I started listening to them in college around 2005-2006 and they were fantastic then. I'd forgive Dan for being an asshole if he would return to being a great sports talker. It's at the point where I don't even hate listen. I stopped cold turkey in August/September. I can honestly say I did used to hate listen, but I can't even bear that anymore. |

Dan only does the social justice stuff because that's the way internet sportswriting has gone in the last two or three years and he thinks there's money in it. If it weren't for some sniveling shits at Deadspin, Dan wouldn't know rape culture from a throat culture. |

i could do without the liberal political comments. it's also be nice if Terry could have an original thought once a show... and when he does have the thought if he could articulate it in less than 10 minutes (ironically he calls people sputtering bitches when Terry himself is the King of being a sputtering bitch) |

Bernstein could have taken his act in the direction of Dan LeBatard, but on a more local level. More silliness, more mockery of pretension, a little social justice but in a more inclusive kind of way. Instead, Bernstein went in the completely opposite direction into full on asshole SJW who thinks that most of his listeners and all but about five of his callers are complete imbeciles who can never really understand his take on sports and culture. DL Twitter: "I didn't vote for Ken Griffey Jr." (because he had his HOF taken away because he lent it to Deadspin's readers) DB Twitter: ""Israelites' leader after Moses" can be "Hitting coach for both the Cubs and White Sox in the 2000s." Six letters. Go." |
