The guy's name is Alexei (pronounced a-lex-ay). Why does Mike Mulligan insist on butchering this guy's name? Come to think of it, Mulligan tends to mispronounce a lot of names.

Actually, that is not how you pronounce it. There is no "ex" sound in Cuban castellano. It is pronounced "Ali-say." Hawk and everyone else pronounced it wrong when he first was signed. I think the media guide had the correct pronunciation listed during his second year, but only some announcers/radio guys actually switched.

I think its pronounced "alex - see". "ei" doesn't make the "ay" sound in spanish. I know he's Cuban and in some parts of Cuba they have just about the same accent we do. I pronounce it "alé - see"
