Captains lead by example right? And who nominates him? the players? and what determines a captains fate? It seems to me that Dye is the only one trying to lead by example by being consistant and being clutch for along time now. this is 2008 and why should the team look-up to Konerko? It may or may not change things by the numbers, but at least the Sox will have a true leader to follow into the post season.

For the record, Paul Konerko reluctantly became the White Sox captain. He didn't exactly want to wear the "C" on the uniform top similar to Jason Varitek of the Red Sox and the whole captains' issue came up right after the White Sox brought home Chicago's first World Series championship in 2005. I would have no problem if Jermaine Dye became the Southsiders' new captain, if it ever came to fruition. I think the captains' issue was Ozzie's idea...

If what you say is true, then it's on Ozzie to pass the torch to a more deserving player. Why is it that Paul got the nod instead of Dye? Who was the MVP that post season in 05? Paul Konerko reluctantly became the White Sox captain you said, so then maybe its time he just handed it over if he can't lead. Why continue to wear the "C"? Jermaine has been so underrated by the league, he deserves to hang his hat on something.

Akuma, I know that Konerko reluctantly became the White Sox captain after they won the World Series in '05. It doesn't seem like much now though, but I wish someone other than Konerko wore the "C". I'm not so sure Dye would want to become the team's new captain...

These are professional ball players. If they need a "captain" to push them to play hard then there's a problem. This isn't little league.

what they don't need, is talking about their stuggling captain every time he has a bad outing. plus in little league, every kid is an equal, they're all captians my friend.
