. . . . and never leave the house to cover a story."

Mully just made this statement with sarcasm. I wonder if it's a "shot" at someone at the Score?

Did anyone else hear it?

He obviously took exception to Terry's comments about the coverage of the Preseason Bears game.

I think you can include many in the media on that list, not only reporters. Try adding Stone, Mac, North, etc....
All of these guys LOVE being critics, but none of them can take any criticism. They are all thin skinned.

I would probably add Bernstein to that group as well...

on the other side of the coin, I think silvy has some pretty thick skin, he's taken a lot of shit over the years, and it doesn't really seem to affect him...

Good call! I've bitched about various hosts having thin skin but have never given credit where credit is due, and Silvy has taken a lot of crap in stride.

At least Mully attends sporting events. Boers hasn't been to a game in years.

I have and will accept criticism but not derisive comments. Reasonable intelligent people know the difference.

I think that's just a rather juvenile reaction to what is essentially a rather mature realization of how utterly ridiculous their line of work is.

Your statement lacks any substance. There are far more trite (aka 'ridiculous') professions than there are necessary, meaningful ones - and even the latter is entirely subjective based on person, place, time, and context.

I would vote Carmen. He is a big baby when he isn't getting his way. One time Harry went off topic on a tangent and Carmen kept on crying, because Harry wasn't keeping on the same subject. He acted like a 3 year old.

You're a notorious argument baits-man, on par with Seacrest, and so I'm not sure how exactly to respond other than to say that of course my statement "lacks substance," it's armchair speculation on a field in which I have no expertise. Lacking substance doesn't necessarily = a lack of "value" on a message board, though, unless you're that guy who loathes one-liners.

All I'm saying is that if I were to put myself in Mully's shoes, my gut reaction would be the same, to fire a weak, self-deprecating shot across the bow. The content and delivery of Mully's statement lead to my conclusion, and you're more than welcome to disagree.

It's a dog eat dog business (hello Mr. Vick). These guys are worried about losing their newspaper jobs & are all jockeying for a radio gig. It's like getting called out at your job except it's in front of thousands of listeners.

You insulted a perfectly legitimate line of work with an overly offensive adjective.

Thousands of people read what they write everyday.

You're giving Spmack more fodder, Seacrest. Check on that shield.

I don't think there's anything offensive about describing professional sports coverage as "ridiculous," and don't take what I said to mean that I begrudge anyone their ability to make a living at it. Legitimate and ridiculous are mutually exclusive in this case, as with many professions.

You've got me confused with the guy who cares.

I'll take that as a yes on the aspiring writer question.

The Seacrest line hurts. He's a dimwit without acknowledging or realizing it and posts accordingly; I get pissed off and go after posts that appear to be mindless or baseless.

With your further explanation, it is much different than what I initially thought you meant. Your original post gave the impression that 'how dare such meaningless people with meaningless jobs argue as though they weren't meaningless' - as you may well see, that's just a dumb statement, thus my ire.

If I take you correctly now, and your meaning was something more like 'I agree with Mully responding to Boers in kind - that is to say, in a snide, passing, and indirect manner', thenI pretty much agree with you.

You would be more fun if you were intellectually and personally honest.

If Spmack has time to go through your posts like he did with Jimmy Reardon, I'm sure he will find something that validates the question that was asked.

If you were capable of typing out more than two lines at a time,

you might have better results when attempting to make a point.

That same "I'm so much better than you" tone is rearing its head again here.

Best of luck with the job hunt.

Working out of my home office allows me the time to follow this scintillating exchange, Mr. Rozner. Can I take a rain check on that good luck, for when I actually need it?
